Decent news. I think Wood has good potential and he is clearly making steady progress.

Not sure on Wood, another home grown talent would be ideal but he looks like his progress has stalled to me.
See a Cadishead player has signed for Wigan today, right under our noses one goes to the pies, pish poor for me that.

Happy for Josh that he's signed a contract extension. As things stand he's clearly 3rd choice Hooker but he's only young and will improve.
With Brinning seemingly susceptible to injury he'll get a decent amount of game time as the interchange for Tomkins.

Just had a chat with a friend of Dobson and he reckons that his Mrs is keen on heading back to Aus at the end of his current deal (finishes end of 2018 I think), pity as I'd put money on him becoming a top class coach and would loved to have seen him work at Salford in that capacity.
Assuming we resign Lui and Carney at the end of the season Wood wouldn't be that bad as back up and also to Tomkins and Brining at #9.

Wood provides cover in the halves and at hooker, is homegrown, young, and so is worth a deal imo.

Good long term thinking to offer Jake and Josh two year contracts. With the new salary cap rules, as they're through our youth system, if these players become important first team regulars by the end of this contract, then we can offer decent contracts to keep them at the club without knackering the salary cap. It's going to require long term thinking like this to remain competetive in the years to come, as the strongest squads will be those that make use of the marquee players, and the retention of home grown talent. We are a long way behind some clubs in this regard, but this is a good step in the right direction.
