Today's attendance was 5834. Thank you all for your vocal support!
That was the reported attendance yesterday.
Firstly that meant that the stadium was less than half full - RUBBISH
Apparently the Doc (apparently as like a child he blocked me for daring to ask him a question) has been putting sarcastic posts up on Twitter. Hardly productive during so much good publicity.
I dread to think what it would be like if we did get big crowds, getting served yesterday was nightmarish. I got 3 identical rounds in a was charged 3 different amounts, 1 they missed a drink off (their fault) second charge was right but the 3rd was nearly double and required someone getting a manager to sort it out meaning I missed the last try.

I'm turning into a Koukash cheerleader here - can't see anything sarcastic, just one saying the support was awesome.

That attendance figure is surprising. I'm led to believe that free tickets don't count towards the final figure (Ian Blease has said that the 350 free tickets were removed from it), but even then it doesn't look right. The South Stand was packed and the West looked pretty busy too. Leigh didn't fill the North Stand as much as I thought they would have but I reckon there was closer to 7,000 there yesterday.
I agree @michiganred - if there was ever a full house at the AJ Bell it would be impossible to get served at the bar!

I thought more like 7k but to be fair 6k is still very good, especially considering Leigh's relatively poor turn out. Means about 5k Salford fans which is much improved, and we won which we usually don't do when we get a good turn out. Let's take the positives!
Re the doc, not seen anything sarcastic from him tbh. Depends how you read it I guess

Crowd looked about right to me I've never seen the south stand so full. Leigh end was less than 3/4 full. East stand pretty sparse (mostly community club kids and their coaches and families). I spent first half in the west stand and it felt full but moved to East stand before half time and there were plenty of gaps in the south end and the 2 stands in the north end were nearly empty Crowds are on the up, albeit slowly, so if we can keep up the work on and off the field it will keep growing

I think people tend to massively overestimate how many there are on the terraces. The positive thing about yesterday was that that was (I think) our highest attendance so far this season, and yet it was one of the lowest away turnouts so far, in spite of Leigh's legendary away following. My guess is that there were around 1200 Leigh fans there, which means the remaining 4800ish were either Salford fans or neutrals. Not brilliant, but it's moving in the right direction.

Oh yippee my favourite subject!!!😄
First thing I did when arriving in South stand yesterday was take pics of the other 3 stands as I knew the reported crowd figure would be a load of b0ll0cks and there is not a cat in hells chance there were under 6k there yesterday. If I can work out how to do it then I'll post the pics on here in a bit.
The group I stand with were discussing the crowd at half time and we reckoned (based on actually trying to use some educated guesswork).
South stand - Now I only got my space in south stand just before kick off and it was rammed. I normally stand about 25/30 feet to the left of the big screen (when we're on Sky) and the edges of the stand are almost always empty. Yesterday they were almost full. If that stand holds 2500 and (conservatively) it was 80% full then you have 2000 fans in there.
West stand (the big one!) - it holds 4500. The far end (Leigh end) was pretty empty but the central area was rammed and the section near the south stand was a lot fuller than normal. Again (conservative estimate) even if the stand was 60% full you are looking at around 2700.
North stand (Leigh end) - Holds 2500. I was told on Thu night by a Leigh fan that works at the LSV that they had presales of 980 tickets as of that time. The 2 sides were sparsely populated and unlike the Cas & Wigan games the centre was fairly full but not rammed. So if another 250 Leythers paid on the day then you're looking at 1250 in that stand (surely even with the gaps it was more than 50% full?).
East stand - Holds 2500. Assuming all the freebies were in here? Looked like around 400-500 in that stand so 350 odd quoted freebies fits in with that.
So based on (IMO, very conservatIive) figures quoted above that would put the attendance at around 5950. If my figures are too conservative then even a 10% increase puts us over the 6500 mark.
So I honestly believe that either the official ground capacity (12k) is wrong or attendance figures are being published by Jimmy Carr's accountant!😉

I reckon your estimates are pretty much spot on Salford Slim although I'd move 1-200 from east to south. And that's what the figures were 5834 + 350 freebies = 6184
I'm not seeing the controversy

Slightly OT but this reminds me of a story the late great Eric Shaw told me.
He was an occasional reporter many moons ago for BBC Manchester and was covering a game at Swintons old ground Station Rd.
As Eric told it he was live on air when the attendance of X amount was announced to which he said they must have counted everyone shopping on Swinton Precinct all day and doubled it to get those figures. The Swinton chairman (maybe White) heard this and banned him for life, Eric was immensely proud of this.

And that's what the figures were 5834 + 350 freebies = 6184 I'm not seeing the controversy I think I'm being more than conservative and genuinely don't see how you can physically fit another 6k in that ground unless people are going to sit on each others shoulders/knees but not worth arguing the toss over. It does annoy me tho when Marwan rants about crowd figures that are blatantly incorrect. Especially after Saints crowd being given as 3600 ish (we must have dished out a minimum 1000 freebies for that game if that's the case). If we're giving out freebies then these need to be stated within the figures otherwise fans will continue to question what we're putting out to the media. I have no problems with free tickets being "selectively" dished out to local schools/sports clubs. If some of them come back as paying customers it grows the fanbase. I didn't pay for a game before the age of 16 due to the Junior Devils scheme but the club has had 23 years of my hard earned since then.
