No, but you'd think that an area like Barton would be prime for even more investment, the stadium we have is fine and with improved infrastructure will be a fine day out.
In reality if the games did come to Manchester again most of the events would be based around the city ground, the massive new development going up near Snipe Moss in Ashton, but you'd hope that a stadium like ours would be used to host events.

My thoughts about a new stadium being built, was that it give us a possibly of moving to a cheaper rent, plus our own catering etc

No, the solution is simple; as tenants City move out of the Etihad and it returns to an athletic stadium, simples!

I've been reading about this on a separate forum, its a shame Durban have had to pull out due to financial difficulties and really there's only two UK cities that have the infrastructure in place and previous expertise in holding a large scale sporting event to hold the games at such short notice......Manchester and London. I believe Liverpool and Brum have tabled their interest as they were both bidding for 2026, but there isn't enough time for them to get things in place. The only issue is if a UK city hosts it in 2022, it's probably not going to host it again in 2026 so they could miss out.
I personally think it'd be great for Manchester / Salford and create a bit of post Brexit positivity. It would give the region a chance to showcase the city once again after delivering such a successful games back in 2002, yes 2002!
There's a lot currently going on and planned for both cities, several 100m+ talls and big projects either under construction or starting before the end of the year which will truely give the Salford / Manchester boundary a big European city feel.
There are lots of potential venues;
Ethihad and their training complex OT AJ Bell LSV Manchester Arena Manchester Central (Gmex) Event city The quays Velodrome Aquatics National squash centre
But as someone said if London are in for it they will probably get it and build another tube network while their at it.......
