I may be asking or even expecting too much, but with games like this I feel we've gone backwards....or at least two steps back then we go a step forward, as previously mentioned we can harp on about the ref but we have to cut out these daft niggley penalties. If we are aiming to be a top 8 or even top 4 side dare I say it, we have to start being consistent week in week out with the off game every now and then, this is frustrating for a fan so it must be just as frustrating for the players when they know they've potentially got the beating of most sides in SL. Yes we are "nearly there" and a player of Carneys ability may give us that extra, but that is going to be at a cost of disrupting the teams dynamics. There's a lot of positives amongst the negatives, but come mid season how many times are we going to have heard IW in his post match interview say "when we look back on this game, we will probably say it's one of those games we should've came away with 2 points". Here's to onwards and upwards, Cas next week I'm hoping.

Just watched the highlights.
Couple of soft tries which hasn't been like us this season so far, and the penalties are killing us. Can't really blame BMM for that last effort as nine times out of ten he'd have nailed it. Just bad luck.
The game was ours to lose rather than for Wakey to win, and so it proved. Wakey has never been a lucky hunting ground for us over the years, but we're still sixth and we have nothing to lose against a runaway Cas at the moment. Nobody will fancy us, and it puts the expectation onto them. They're also due a mediocre performance (We hope!) so nothing to fear.

www.skysports.com/share/10799938Not sure if that helps? Just rewatched them myself, Evalds made a few mistakes defensively which lead to 2 try's, probably a bit rusty after the lay off but this for me highlights the lack of a reserve grade to ensure players are back up to game speed. O'briens link play in attack with Dobson and Lui is something to behold. A bit like going back to Smith, Holdsworth and Patton.

Thanks, yes that worked. Purely from the highlights, just a couple of observations in that Brinning was on the field for all our tries, Lui looks bang on form and BMM probably had to go for the line. He looked outside and Welham seemed to be covered whilst he had the momentum. As I say, that's purely looking at the highlights from which I can also deduce that Evalds may be a lot of things but he's never a centre. Probably earned his chance but JJ would be selected if IW had that decision to make again.

My guess is that Watson put Evalds at Centre to counter the pace of the Wakefield wingers. What was the reason for Sa'u being left out of the 17? I also noted that Brinning was on the pitch for all of our tries bonitared. He'll make the starting hooker position his own eventually.

Junior seemed to pick up a rib injury shortly before he scored the final try against relegation threatened Warrington. He was a bit slow getting to his feet after a tackle, and was holding his ribs as he went back into position. Not the tackle when he was really slow getting to his feet, because I think there might have been a bit of time wasting in that one. It was a bit before that, and looked genuine.

Apparently Junior had a dose of the Earthas, yesterday was the mirror opposite of the million pound game as was on a golf course in Belgium, the difference being I managed to catch the updates till we went 10 points up only to get to the clubhouse and Wakefield pulled it back.
Dejected doesn't come close.
Think Junior not playing could have been a game changer for them, for me him and Koppy should be just about first names other team sheet.
Think we as a club can feel unlucky not to be 4 comp points better off, the worrying thing is we seem to be playing so well but only have 2 wins, worrying that we haven't more breathing room on the other likely protagonists for the scrap to avoid the bottom 4.

The travelling support yesterday was great. Plenty of fans there, making a lot of noise. That's despite some fans taking 3 hours to travel because of the problem on the motorway. I'd just managed to get through the carnage and saw a woman hanging off the motorway bridge ready to jump. Turns out she didn't jump and was taken for medical treatment afterwards.

I think kloppy has to start and we should stick for now with dobbo and Lui. I also think brinning is a fantastic impact hooker and IW is spot on starting tompkins. I dont think evalds is a centre not sure where he fits in atm. Disappointed but it's two away fixtures and we should have won both, a little fine tuning in the "how to see games out" department and we're there.

Yes,Evalds would normally have played before Greg Johnson, hence the 5 shirt, but GJ apparently playing out of his skin and deserves to keep the shirt by all accounts. We can only beat Castleford if we score heavily,as I can't see it being an arm wrestle,so TC has to be on the bench

Johnson's never really been a first name I'd personally have put in the starting 17 when all personnel are available, as I always thought Evalds has that knack for being in the right place and scoring, Carney speaks for himself.
But Johnson has taken his chance and atm can you give a reason for dropping him? He's scoring and he's the quickest player we have in the backline.
One thing I did notice that impressed against Warrington, when they made a break on the opposite side, Johnson on at least two occasions used his speed cross field to provide cover.

I think it's going to be difficult to open a gap on the other protagonists for a much coveted place in the bottom four because, at the moment, you can count on the fingers of one offensive gesture the number of teams not involved in the scrap. Wigan and Castleford. That's it. Maybe Hull. It's beginning to look like Huddersfield and Widnes have got positions 11 and 12 pretty much boxed off, so we need to finish ahead of two of the other teams. Every point is important in these circumstances, so it makes those lost points particularly frustrating.
