Great stats!
George Griffin as Super League's No.1 missed tackler is a bit of a shock.
Apart from that, it's great to see Salford Players doing so well in the player rankings.

Great stats! George Griffin as Super League's No.1 missed tackler is a bit of a shock. Apart from that, it's great to see Salford Players doing so well in the player rankings. To be fair to him, he gets through a lot of work. The same for Mossop. When your main job is the physical side of things, your good and bad stats will be higher.

Yes,Griffins stats are a surprise. Not too worried. He'll be acutely aware and improve. He's a very good player in the engine room . Sau needs his contact extending and improving. He's a far better player now than when he arrived. He'll also be acutely aware of that !

Yeah you've always got to be careful with stats.
GG is 8th in Marker tackles and Mossop is 13th, so the missed tackles could come from being in that position more often than other players and subsequently not being able to complete a tackle from the side/back etc. as the dummy half/first receiver scoots past. (Not sure how they judge a missed tackle so that of course could be utter bullocks...)

For me the only stat that really concerns me there is the penalties. Griffin is only one away from Brough, so you know it's bad. Penalties are key in games and can mean the difference between winning and losing. If he cuts them down I'll be a lot happier.

Let's look at the stats re penalties: pre-season we were told of a tightening up by the refs concerning marking at the play-the-ball. We see both Mossop and Griffin are achieving high tackle counts in this area and also high stats in missing tackles; perhaps the penalties (or some of them) come from the same activity? Agree we do need to reduce the penalties as we seemed to attract lob-sided ratios in past seasons.

Seems like we're agreed that the stats don't tell the whole story and we're all highly supportive of Griffin

You missed out the player slower than an arthritic snail going for a sail on a glacier stat.
