What's everyone's thoughts on Ian Blease and his idea of a bleedin' backing band at games, giving the mascot a drum. We have never needed it in the past and have took the mickey out of Wire etc for it, I think it's a bad move we are a Rugby League Club not Status Quo but he is hell bent on the idea and I know a few core fans who I go with won't be attending Saturday if it goes ahead. I hope it bombs out after one game fingers crossed, I've seen people suggesting trumpets and all sorts to him on Twitter

I know a few core fans who I go with won't be attending Saturday if it goes ahead. That is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not a huge fan of the idea, but I don't see any harm in giving it a go for a game or two. It's a very divisive issue for some strange reason.

TBH I know what you mean, I won't stay away but it depends how bad it is.

Chronic bad idea, think Ian Blease is pulling his tripes out for the club, this though is his first major balls up.
Something like will ruin a great many peoples enjoyment of the game and I'm pretty certain drive some of the older folks away, I have asked numerous times on Twitter where the drum will be situated only to be ignored in favour of the sycophants auditioning to be in the everything the club does smells of roses clique.
Honest opinion in a wacky kooky way the Dr Devil will start doing his Animal impression near the wrong person and he will give the mascot a nice shiny new crown.
If the club does have a presence on here this is a stupid idea, you only have to listen to feed back of the home fans when other supporters bring a drum with them.

First major balls up? Come on, that's a bit harsh.
I honestly don't understand why this is such an emotive subject for some people.
Lets give it a chance, and when Ian Blease has had some feedback (i.e. A handful of supportive people + a thousand Boo Boys whinging on social media) the club can form it's own conclusions.

I think Ian Blease is looking to get the South Standers a bit louder during the game.
Playing Devils Advocate, what alternatives are there?
I've seen musical instruments work when I've been to Bundesliga games (FSV Mainz and St. Pauli) so surely it's worth a go?

No it's not worth a go, I have bought a season ticket for the South stand and don't want to have to listen to a moron with a drum doing his simpleton impression. Nor should I have to move.

Ok Granddad 😁
Playing Devils Advocate again, what if the rise in noise gets a raise out of the Salford players?
It seems a bit melodramatic to suggest that people moving stands or even boycotting games could happen on the back of a beater and a bass drum.
Ps, I'm a drummer 😄

There goes your pocket money young fellow me lad Not mellow dramatic I just quite simply don't want it anywhere near me, I've already been ripped off as I know there were lots of people who took the cheaper option to sit in the West stand who moved at the first game to stand in the South. The club can't introduce something like this unless they have sold it to people, I'd rather have piped noise to join in with rather than a drum.

Not for me, not a fan of drums. We did just fine without it at the willows, watched a YouTube vid the other day of before a wire game a few years back, bring on the Salford for about 5 mins before ko, used to be great in the shed. That said, south stand just hasn't had that yet so I do agree something needs to be done. Just not this, in my opinion
I'm not going to stop going because of it, but definitely in the no camp

Why not play the drum or whatever sound through the PA system, but a bit louder when its needed, but not throughout the game ?

Great news @michiganred - Dr Devil will have a drum with him today at Wakefield!
