Statement by MK that there will not be a marquee signing for next year, he seems to think it's a bad idea now!!
Says there is enough quality in the side with VV, McCarthy Lui and Carney ahead of 2018 season. Article was a bit rambling and not really sure if it meant no more signings before or including 2018, but why wouldn't it ramble and make no sense, that's all we ever get.

Made perfect sense to me 😂 Basically saying we can attract 'marquee' type players within the salary cap, he used Lui and Todd as examples. He then goes on to say a couple of years ago we wouldn't have been able to attract players like Vatuvei and McCarthy. He says having an official marquee signing could disrupt the changing room due to how much they're getting paid. He means no more signing this season and no marquee for next. There will be 'normal' signings prior to 2018 I'm sure.

Dave Taylor heading back to Super League, I'd take him, seems to have realised his potential finally in Canberra.

Marwan has tweeted earlier in reply to Ian Leybourn that we will are not interested in Dave Taylor. I would personally prefer us to stick with looking in lower leagues for recruits. If we can limit squad turnover each year to 4/5 tops would be better all round.
As for Walne, am gutted he has gone to Huddersfield but if it means more game time for Murray then all the better. Could also then see young Bent breaking into the squad too.

Think Bent Murray and Bibby (2nd row or centre) will be get much more first team time next year. All good potential.
So Huddersfield have two Salford grown players next year, Leeds one and Warrington one. All leading first teamers. We must be doing something right.

would have been great to see Taylor in a Reds top.

would have been great to see Taylor in a Reds top. I like Taylor as a player, however, he's problematic off the field. Every side he's been at has eventually off-loaded him because of it, and usually sooner rather than later. I just don't think his attitude would fit in at our club regardless of his undoubted ability.

I'm with you here Carney and Taylor back together wouldn't be the right way to go with the current club ethos, isn't that one of the reasons Cats offloaded them (apart from the creative cap accountancy), due to their extra ciricular activities and foundness of wine tasting sessions.

It's muted he's off to Thugs 17; Toronto. Apparently he's not tried Canadian beer yet.

There has to be a reason why he hasn't caught the attention of SL teams. I'd like to think that the scouting network at SL clubs is profound enough to pick up on this sort of player. We have found a hidden gem in Kriss Brining and a potential star in Dan Murray, so hopefully he's on our radar.
I think our strategy going forward should be to discover this type of player rather than shelling out on NRL has-beens or fringe players. It's a much more cost-effective method and low risk if it doesn't work out.
