We're covered because for the 6 7 and 9 jerseys we have five
Brown, Tui, Addy, Atkin, Ackers but is Atkin at the races, how many matches can Brown play, how much time would Patton get, how good is Addy?

As ever,I think the McCarthy issue is down to money as,allegedly,he was still on a top contract. It then becomes a question of value as well as quality. Tyke has been good for us and,by all counts,we’ve paid him well. Could be,for the money,we’ve landed 2 replacements. Just guessing. I think you’re right BR. In a podcast interview with him I was listening to he said something about knowing his own worth and implied any offers he’d had didn’t match that. He didn’t mention any specific clubs. So he may have priced himself out of a contract for now. Fair enough if he isn’t prepared to lower his price, have to admire his approach but it feels like a risky one to me. I don’t think we should pay more than we think he’s worth, would just be sad if he ended up without a club after such a good career. No blame anywhere, just a shame

Been told that Atkin has been training as 9 in pre season so far That's interesting he did well there for KR. For me Patton is a must as competition and cover for Brown. Addy does not strike me as a starting 7 in fact moreover a ball playing 13 or cover at 9. I do not see a much flexibility if we lose Brown in the current squad.

From rugbyleaguehub.com
Tyrone McCarthy is still unsigned to any club for the 2021 season. McCarthy is keeping himself fit and is keen to play for Ireland in the World Cup this year. We're told the Red Devils have finally offered him a deal for this year, so we wait to see how it unfolds over the next fortnight.

Wouldn't be surprised to see us go for Brandon Moore

Seems we are still being linked to Danny Levi... but it could just be journos recycling old rumours in this quiet period.

Does one of out 7 overseas players now hold U.K. Residency? Whatever the rules are now? Residency no longer matters it is all associated with where you have played your Rugby and federation / non federation trained.

Or isn't that possible now?

Residency no longer matters it is all associated with where you have played your Rugby and federation / non federation trained. So how long does one have to play RL in this country to gain exemption? Or isn't that possible now? Not possible. As far as I know. It just went to a blanket approach of 'Non federation trained.' Whereas that term was meant differently in years gone past. It just means the youth system that each player started in. So if a player started his professional career training for an Australian club then he'd be 'non-fed trained' to play in SL. Kolpak players used to be exempt due to the Kolpak trade deal that used to be in place with pacific island nations, but no longer is due to Brexit. There are historic exemptions for a few players. Inu is exempt for example, because we signed him due to Widnes going into Admin. Overseas players gained exemption so that they could find employment.

I’ve never taken the time to understand this rule. In the big picture scheme of things,I’m happy that the Kolpak loophole has been closed and,to borrow an expression, everyone is now on a level playing field. Does Inu’s exemption apply forever or just for the contract that replaced his Widnes one, which used to be the rule I think

Thanks BR that was my question in a roundabout way. I'm confused also because isn't there any international rule which allows overseas (or whatever the term is now) players to play for GB after residency for a certain length of time?
