Not sure of your point here dixon we were, well I was, talking of the effects of the MPG and possible relegation on recruitment.
You've Only got to look to Widnes & Wakey , safe in the Top 8 , both were announcing signings & scouting for recruitment at our first qualifiers game against Huddersfield .
Leeds even though they dropped in to the Qualifiers , no one thought they were in any Danger -
Out owners ' decision ' on whether he was staying or going had far more impact than the Mpg
Can't agree middleman we weren't able to recruit until after the MPG cos we didn't know where we'd be, or what the budget would be.

It's seems Hull KR had deals pending they had to abandon post Mpg however our director of Rugby who oversaw last years recruitment , walked mid qualifiers and was probably working towards squad recruitment for his new position and our Owner went to press and created doubt as to our financial position next season. to me that's put Watson in an unenviable position re recruitment over & above the delay caused by the Mpg

If you look at my comments at the time I felt the Doc was wrong on the indecision and it played its part in team morale. However, you also point out something much more telling, ........" our director of Rugby who oversaw last years recruitment , walked mid qualifiers and was probably working towards squad recruitment for his new position ..." That and any delay by MPG probably had players, even those in waiting signing up for a sure thing rather waiting and gambling.

Carney set for Salford lifeline
It seems we have to offer a Carney a lifeline each season Last Season - Justin , This season - Todd

Imagine, and we'll probably end up having to, if we signed Carney and Hardaker!

Next year it will be me! Offered a lifeline to continue to support them after a disastrous season in all probability...

Just thought if we are after Hardaker and Carney then Leeds want Lui maybe the fee for Hardaker will dropped if we release him earlier.
Carney much better than Lui but way more chance of him going off the rails, what a night out that would be Tasi, Carney and Hardaker.

According to the 18th man Carney and Mossop still on and SRD in the box seat for Hardaker so they'll be playing for Widnes any moment now!😄

Just been to the Dr's meeting looks like Mossop is a done deal.

Sounds like it, utterly underwhelming. Average player and very injury prone. Happy to be proved wrong.

Mossop has had injury challenges, hope he and Vidot if he plays stay injury free and prove their worth.

I think he raises the average of what we have had this year so therefore is good. But not great - definitely better than Joseph, as good as Luke Burgess, probably better than Krasniqi (but not by loads), not as good as Koppy and probably Griffin been better than Mossop this year. but I've not looked at the stats. Wigan fans I know aren't keen on him I don't think he's especially injury prone is he? Aside from when he was at Paramatta I think he's another one in the kopczak and griffin mould - solid, hard working and unspectacular

quick look at the stats doesn't help much For one thing I don't know how many games they've all played - wiki says Mossop played 19 but it also says Koppy played 9 so who knows! I'd guess mossop did play 19 or 20 and ours played 25ish? Mossop (7.65) had a higher average gain than Griffin (6.81) or Kopczak (6.44). that's the only one that isn't dependent on appearances but the better figure could be as a result of playing for a team that won a lot more than Salford Tackles - Mossop 530, Griff 759, Koppy 681 - if the games guess above is right then it puts them all between 27 and 30 per game Mossop higher rate of missed tackles though over 2 a game compared to about 1.5 for Griffin and Kopczak And he makes fewer tackle busts on average So a mixed bag of stats but nothing too shabby. We suffered this year when Griffin and Kopczak went off; if we have another that performs at the same level then hopefully we won't this year! Of course stats don't tell you everything and his stats may be better or worse if he'd played for us this year rather than Wigan
