Apparently he is out for between 8 & 10 weeks, big blow to start the campaign. Get Hock back on loan from Leigh

Consistency was an issue last season, but that is a big loss - big, impact second row.
Also have I heard Jonesis out for 5 weeks with a broken hand or did I dream it?
Ourtwo starting back rowers out for at least the first 5 games doesn't bode too well, we definitely need to sign cover.

I'm not so sure we need to rush out and sign anyone. I think Lannon is capable of stepping-up and claiming a permanent spot on the team, and this could be his opportunity. Although his play style is somewhat different from BMM he also adds a few things of his own that BMM doesn't have. Pace and a better work rate. BMM is primarily a hole-puncher, used in fits and starts. I see Lannon as a player you could get more minutes out of, and has an eye for a gap. He also grafts in defense.
Just my thoughts.
Jones is a bigger loss I think. As we don't have anyone else quite like him.

Lannon looks a decent player and he will rectify the glaring gap he left for one of Rochdale tries. He'll learn from that. BMM has been underrated. He was immense in the MPG when struggling with injury. I don't think we should import willy nilly but I don't think Lannon is the answer. Not for 10 weeks.

Lannon is never going to get a better chance than this. He has a tonne of potential and has shown last year he has what it takes. Can we rely on him for 10? No and i don't think Watson wants to. By all accounts we've agreed terms with whoever this backrower aussie is. However even if all falls through i do believe we have enough cover.
11. Lannon 12. Huaraki 13. Flanagan
14. Brining 15. Tasi 16. Mossop 17. Krasniqi/Walne/Murray

It wont be a case of throwing him in for ten weeks, but he'll get an extended run at the position and I think he's capable of making a good contribution. Who do you think the Aussie could be?

Not too sure just a few names going around. All the name seems to be backrowers though.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen us linked with Ben Barba as he's not available for Cronulla until Round 13 following his latest drugs ban.

Still think the most urgent addition needs to be a back, preferably a strike centre. Evalds is invaluable because of his versatility but it doesn't help him get into the starting 13 each week.
Lannon I think will be given the chance to fill in for BMM, make a good job of it and he has the chance to play for the duration of the injury, struggle and he might find himself out on loan at Bradford, I've asked the Mole on Twitter about the Pettybourne rumour and who the Aussies we are looking at might be but nothing. The issue (as I mentioned previously) is that if we bring in a player from the NRL getting his visa can take a few weeks and then getting him up to speed isn't a two day job.
Losing BMM and JJ wouldn't have been such a bow if we'd have made a play for Jason Walton when he was made a free agent following Bradfords latest implosion.

Where did Walton end up? I'd have taken him back too. A steady eddie.

Nah for me the backs aren't as bad as people make out. We'll probably see Welham and Sau as first choice centers for Wigan with the remaining wing spot either going to Evalds or Johnson depending on how each play. We then have 3 players in Bibby, Evalds and Williams who can play centre to cover. In the backrow we have Huaraki and Lannon the that's it really unless we want to start playing players out of position. Lovett seems to be coming in anyway so that problem at backrow will hopefully be solved before Wigan.
