Al I agree, far more of this is being made of this than necessary, in the media, in the SL halls of infamy and sadly on here. It depresses me because we never seem to get to the end of this particular tunnel but:
1) Asking for some of the money that is due for the season is not asking for anything extra. 2) it is not a loan, 3) it does seem to be a matter of cash flow
I'll still question the motives of anyone making a fuss of this given the help other clubs have had with barely a flutter.
So what happens six months down the line when Salford inevitably go cap in hand asking for more money. Salford cannot keep doing this. It will get to a stage when administration is inevitable and Salford are in the championship or don’t even exist anymore. Very much a worse case scenario that though. The club has said that its focus is on when those extra avenues open up, filling in that missing income. We need the stadium sorted asap. That is the only issue here for me.

Did we see the projected ( maybe not achievable) income from food / parking etc was £120/150k…where's the rest coming from?

Yes, of course, unless you want to make more of it than there actually is ......
There are almost no organisations and businesses that don't have similar issues at times; the other clubs have investors that protect them from moments like this.
To be fair the posters on here most vociferous do have the best interests of SRD in mind but the feeling that they can do better might be better served by joining the board in some capacity or other.

Does make me wonder with the contracts with peel not signed if they didn’t get wind of this sponsorship near the motorway which is estimated to bring in a million pound a year that the council were giving to the club!

Well the idea that Peel are not suspect or suspicious in all this is alive and well on here at least!

Their must be a vendetta against us just like City The standard of journalism in this country and else where is pathetic.its the same football United are fantasticly run being £ 500 million in debt But Russ I doubt it's peel Before anyone starts as well as Salford I used to have season ticket for United when the great Sir Matt was the manager the man who made club.

I think the main issue here relates to the renewed Sky Sports contract which allegedly went from £40m to around £21/22m per season. Not sure exactly what each club got per year & what the RFL took out of it?
I’ve not seen any club accounts so can’t comment accurately on finances both historically & current.
I suspect we may be getting around £500k less per year since the Sky contract was reduced.
Various comments on here from everybody both negative & optimistic- I’m somewhere in the middle!
Not entirely sure how much extra funds we can generate when the Council hopefully takes over the stadium:
- Food/Drink/Parking? - Business/Corporate sponsorships? - Concerts/Gigs?? - Grants - not sure how this would work out?
Are Peel Holdings holding being a pain? Can the Council not threaten to make things difficult for them ie planning permission etc
I think as a club we have done remarkably well over the last few seasons - only London below us in squad salary costs - Wigan almost double ours!
Unfortunately we don’t have a great fan base & no rich backer like many of the other SL squads - we have been “rocking along the bottom” financially for many a year!
My CV - started work at NatWest Walkden 1979 - met John Wilkinson numerous times & as a young teenager went to the Willows for a Sportsman’s dinner in the early 80’s that was a real eye opener! Played For Bolton RL 1988-95 - started to follow Salford RL, was a Man U fan from a young kid but lost interest around 2007!
There is only one - Diable Rouge!

Need to see how Monday plays out. I do have some sympathy for Paul King and Claire Butters with the council taking forever to get the stadium deal done. I do however understand that some fans especially as we are a supposed Community based club want more transparency. I also cannot understand how we can appoint a new COO, sign more players when there is no money to spend. I just hope Monday goes well then it is business as usual.

It’s boring and hopefully we can get passed it and start arguing about team selection

I think the SL clubs will try to put us in special measures on the one hand and beyond that IMG will lower our score. I'll leave you to make of that anything you like. On Monday we should discover if the rest of the clubs want SRD in SL or just want to divvy up the proceeds while the corpse is laid to rest!
The stadium even in the glacial time line of council offices should've been sorted long ago.
The moaning and groaning is just the normal and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.
The transparency arguments just appear to be a lack of understanding and reading and listening in some quarters TBH.
We're all fed up and want to see a season where this sort of thing doesn't happen but the conclusions people come to are at best figments of over excited fan brains.
