So we move onto Leigh away, despite the hype Leigh are poor and vulnerable to pace out wide as exploited by Cas yesterday. No doubt Sky will again be up the backside of Leigh and Derek and have a narrative that luck rather than application has got us sitting join top. I do not think this Leigh side is all that personally.
Anyhow we move into next week with King/Hellewell/Nofa possibly coming in but with doubts on Mellor and Shorrocks. The Mellor injury is interesting as Bourouh will not be back until Wigan so we are a hooker light. It is likely Cust will go to 9 but we have limited options as backup. Personally I'd shift Brierley to 6, put Cust in at 9 and put Atkin on the bench. Ryan can cover full back with ease then Hankinson or Nofa on the wing. Morgan is not a 9, he needs to play half back if he is used at SL level. Rowley has some decisions to make.

Need a fixed positional side as lots of newbies; I’d play the same team…Cust at 9, Dixon sub maybe with Morgan maybe as sub then Atkin to 9, Morgan replace Atkin if needed
Or Hankinson sub who could play pack or backs
The only thing we can guarantee is that we’re both wrong 🤣

Hate the idea of changing that many positions just start cust and put Morgan on the bench to spell him if needed

I think if we serve up the last twenty minutes like at Huddersfield where we played our get out jail free card I wouldn't back us at Leigh with your money And furthermore that last twenty minutes wasn't on Rowley it was squarely on the players If they were going to ease up they should have made sure they had more points on the board People go about Brierleys defending at he's age he his not getting any better then people say we don't defend out wide If Rowley's is telling them to defend like that he should go.But I don't think he is. . |

Brierley's defence doesn't worry me. it's good enough 90% of the time, and in my opinion, I'd rather have a FB that is dynamic in attack over a last ditch defender. It's the way of the modern game. There's merits to both, but if I have to choose it's an attacking FB over a defensive one.

I don’t think it’s about being a defensive or attacking fb C, I think it’s that he’s really good on attack but his positional play seems suspect sometimes which hopefully could be improved. He’s a converted fb and not a natural fb, …just seems in a dream sometimes…but stilll good
On fbs I think Evalds is now as good as if not better than our star at Saints.

Honestly think Brierley is decent defensively, a lot of the tries conceded are when he’s had to cover across following a break - think Tui’s try was after a break where he covered across right then Huddersfield moved the ball left quickly so he’s not out of position due to a poor read but because he had to line up where the previous play was

Good to see Sidlow back. Hope he gets a game just to see if he still has it. Could well be a useful member of the squad as the season progresses.

I watched him play in the reserves and he had very little impact and didn't look overly interested. Not great. Unless there's an overriding reason for his absence we're all not aware of... |

The tigers fans mentioned about his attitude towards the end of his time there. Maybe that he brought that with him and still thinks he's Billy big bollocks.
Wasn't overly impressed with his initial interview tbh, obviously as an aussie he couldn't pronounce salford, he wore a city top and he said he'd never watched and SL. Hardly came across as a guy who did his research and wanted to get stuck in.
Let him play out the year in the reserves, then fire him off. Waste of a spot for a reserve winger
