Also, if my memory serves me correctly
I used to have a kick about on the old that was Werneth RL pitch next to the rail track , when visiting my Mother's absolutely Hat stand Cousin, I believe he once did a streak at Oldham RL old stadium Watersheddings during a game against Barrow in the 1960s, Minus -5 as was that place 6 months of the year.
And Radcliffe had an RL team, That would have been a good Derby if they were still going.
Round 2 Radcliffe beat Werneth 2-0 !!.

They've always been a truly poor broadcast partner and they should never have been given the CC or the internationals. You only have to look at their treatment of other sports compared to RL and you'd think the programmes were produced by an entirely different company with half the resources and and a quarter of the income.
When I was allowed on Total I often crossed swords with the "get matches on the Beeb" crowd and I hate being proven correct once again, but it is insane to keep going back to this well when it's proven empty so often and so badly.
I have to laugh when I hear Aunty called "lefty", they as much a part of Westminster bubble as any London newspaper.

Seems strange that they’re putting League matches on but can’t/ won’t fulfil their contract fully for the Cup…would have thought 3 good days cup action…but…it’s the Beeb and the RFL negotiating…
Wonder if any of the other View Outlets will be allowed to screen?

Mostly the RFL has been guilty of being grateful that anyone takes any notice of their sport and trusting the beeb to do a decent job; both these ideas are complete nonsense almost as bad as the people of Salford voting Tory in the hope things will change or the Tories will be different this time around.
In terms of the contract Aunty would/will say thay they are fulfilling their agreement by using one of their outlets to broadcast a match. Clearly it isn't good enough but they never have been and never will be until other boradcasters outbid them and take RL away seemingly once and for all.
The "Westminster Bubble" doesn't just define politics it defines all our experience of where we live and how other parts of the country are portrayed as better and treated differently in almost every aspect. This includes the sport we choose and how it's treated.
I keep waiting for IMG to pull soemthing out of the bag to change how this works and so far they've just given us a bit of theatre blaming the sport for all its problems completely. In this respect they are no different from aunty in any way.

Signing with a number of media outlets is step one but getting RL into the mindset of the UK as a whole needs to be the central and most important facet of their strategy and nothing, up to now, has said they are addressing this or even that they're capable of achieving this goal.
A lot of applause for Ofstedding the clubs a line that barely views never mind touches the surface of the problem RL faces is ridiculous.

Russ I suggest you Google IMG and see what they do worldwide in most sports
I would suggest the problem is not the skills and resources of IMG but the intransigence of the RFL and the top four clubs
At least an outside agency with its skill set has a chance, doing it via internal means has never worked. This year there is some structure, some goals and some achievements…I like every match on tv each weekend and every match with a video ref and a measuring device to give some value to each club etc
Just embrace it with an open mind because we don’t have anything else and if it fails we’ve learnt a great deal from those with worldwide sports expertise.

No ban for Sneyd. We will have Olmondroyd and Cust back for Friday and possibly Partington. Both Mellor and Sidlow are close however not sure either gets into the 1-17.

Almost the moment I heard they were talking I Googled and searched their involvement.
Although the top 5-6 clubs have awlays been the ones guilty of obstruction, intransigence and self-interest It's always the lower end of the SL table that gets the blame. Having made sure, at every opportunity, that the status quo remains and change is (has been) ineffective or abandoned they pose and are lauded as the ones doing the business and this has been as rigorously done as a wet tissue. So we agree on this point JJR.
I don't doubt IMG's ability altogether but I do think what they've done so far and what they haven't even begun to do, are very telling points.
Not "having anything else" is the kind of argument that gets us in bed with the Beeb and what a roaring success that has proven to be!
