Well, not so unexpected with his problems with injury. It’s a tough old sport. Just think we should all thank him for his time at Salford. I wish him all the best in the future.

The people talking about winning those 600 lost fans appears to be the worst kind of cockeyed optimism.

I’ve said it before and people get upset players leaving for whatever reason every other week and no incoming or even signs or them isn’t encouraging anyone in fact most of us are looking at the squad worried we might not get a team out say we get a few injuries tomorrow what then? On the phone begging for loan players for game 1

It's a real shame for him. I thought he stepped up from the Championship really well and looked like a handy SL player; an opportunity he'd waited his whole career form I wish him all the best.

I agree BDD the trouble is, with all our concerns, we tend to forget individual people are involved. It is a real shame that we needed to let him go and I hope everything works out for him in the longer term. All the best Alex and thanks for everything!

Wish him all the best.
As for players coming in, I'm fairly certain the club knows it needs more bodies. I actually think it has a lot more to do with the right players being available in an ever shrinking pool of talent, rather than the finances. It's also pretty difficult to tempt people to move to the other side of the world at this late stage in the pre-season.

I think you spot on here Carnster though I'm not sure the talent pool is ever shrinking and if it is the whole sport would be doomed ... unless you mean because of the time of year or the selfishness of the top clubs or both?

Alex was a tremendous player for us in 2022. One of our best forwards in one of our best teams in the last forty years. Long minutes, good defence and an intelligent ball player. Injury hampered last season - even when he played he didn’t look himself. Hope he has good memories of his time at Salford and wish him all the best for his future.

Very sorry to see him go. A fit Alex Gerard was a good, honest skilful forward who made the hard yards. We will miss him.

Yes. Time of the year along with most players having contracts sorted way before now.
