Prince Harry has been Vice Patron of the union since 2010. A big rugby fan, he regularly attends England matches at Twickenham and has supported the work of the RFU and its charities in that time. Prince Harry was also Honorary President of the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Straight from the RFU website. Im not in the least bit negative,or one eyed about the appointment, merely dealing in facts. Yes Harry is in my opinion a top representative of the Royals, but he has shown no interest in our game, and therefore should not have been given the honour of being the games patron.

In practice, how has this happened ? The Queen, understandably, has had to stand down from nearly 100 similar appointments. The support staff have carved them up between the Royals on the basis of existing duties and similar appointments. It's easy, therefore,to see how it landed on his plate. It could have been a minor royal. We've had plenty of patronage from the professional northerners, when it suited them. So,it is what it is. If we can persuade him to come to Wembley, that'd be great. I'm not sure what alternative there'd be. Anything is a come down after the Queen but,as has been said, she last went to aRL Wembley game before Salford were there !

Well, whoop de fucking doo, a pointless anachronism lands a pointless non-job. And by "lands", I mean "inherits from his gran" because after 60+ years of valuable service, she's decided that all the work she puts in supporting and championing Rugby League is getting a bit too much for her and she can't be arsed any more. Her contribution to the sport over that period has been so immeasurable that no-one has ever bothered to measure it, although estimates put it somewhere in the region of cock all.
So now we have Harry to take up the mantle. The fact that people are having to hope that our new patron - the person whose role is to support and champion the sport - can be bothered to turn up for an event occasionally surely tells us that he's the wrong man for the job. Still, there's always a chance I suppose. He's already done a bit for union, including championing the RFU's desire to get their sport played in every school in England, and getting involved in typical union activities, like dressing up as a Nazi for a laugh and getting his knob out in public. However, while there's a chance he'll get involved in typical Rugby League activities - like moaning about referees and singing "Wanky, wanky, wanky, wanky Warrington" - I've made a little note to myself to not go holding my breath waiting for it to happen.
As for how much of a draw he could be if he did roll up to a game, does anyone below the age of 70 really care about this feckless family of privileged wastrels nowadays? The sport (and/or the club) would surely do better paying a popular vlogger to finish up with something like "...and after I've hidden my spots under a quarter inch thick layer of foundation supplied by this company who I am in no way promoting, I usually go and watch Salford Red Devils play."

Hear effing hear.
I'd be amazed if Hewitt Jr had any idea he was now the RFL patron, never mind the slightest intention of going to a game. He'll add as much to the sport as his family of parasites add to society.
