Another signing. Can play hooker. Can't say I have particularly noticed him. Anyone know if he is or could be good? Always thought highly of him and he could be a very good bit of business, certainly gives a bit of variety because of where he can play.

Out the blue this signing, but I rate him, didn't have much game time last season cos of injury and the players Leigh had, but should go well for us

Always admired him and like someone else has posted he has always looked dangerous when playing us.....I suppose he can cover 6 & 9 and possibly 1 so a really good useful cover player and squad member. I know he is getting on a bit but I`d rather have him playing for us than against.

I’m pretty convinced atkin will play 9 with mellor at 14

Just watched Mellor this morning at 9, he is brilliant in terms of distribution, I think he will start at 9. Atkin is a better impact player. We also have Bourouh and Shorrocks to cover 9 in a game if required. Mellor is also a bigger than Atkin, I think he will start at 9.

I'm happy with Mellor. I imagine he's been brought in to play 9 (he mainly spelled Ipape this year). He also gives us another rugby brain on the pitch and brings a kicking game out of acting half. Also, as a ex-HB he provides cover for Cust/Sneyd, leaving Atkin to be out utility guy. I didn't realise he was 33 until I looked. Surprised at that. I know he's been around a while but I still thought he was younger. I won't what out average age is. We must be the oldest in the league. Plenty of experience, which you can only get with game time, and could benefit us in managing matches a little better this year.
