Some of the rule proposals are crazy. Other are good.
I get the tackle height change. As well as protecting players it's also to prevent future claims whereby the sport and to ensure the support call get player insurance. Also, I don't think going from the shoulder to the armpit is a huge change. Players should be targeting the chest and ball anyway. You often see those lazy tackles which hit the shoulder slip up to the head.
Five metre retreat - Ridiculous imo. It'd reduce space for attacking play and some teams are already getting away with 8/9m instead of 10m. What about when they are creeping inside the 5m?
Two player tackle - I half agree with this. I don't think a third man should be able to dive into the tackle around the legs, even the thigh as it can still buckle your knee. But, I don't have an issue with a third person coming in and grabbing a leg (or tackling up top) to effect a tackle and stop momentum. I think an doutroght ba ln is stupid. What are player supposed to do when you have a player like Walmsley powering in on the try line? You often see 3/4 players lending weight and getting involved to prevent a player getting over. Also, if I had a huge guy like that, I'd get him to run at the half back, centre, wing, knowing only two smaller men can try and tackle him.
One marker - Could be interesting and add more excitement around the ruck. I'd imagine the player who would be second marker would drop into the the line directly behind the play the ball.
No lifting the ball carrier - Understandable, though we need more details. I assume it means lifting two legs as one leg can sometimes come off the ground naturally during a tackle as you turn a player and divert their momentum.
No slinging/swinging/throwing players - Understandable.
No falling on a prone player - I've always thought this should be outlawed. When a player is down all you need to do is place your hands on them. There is no need to drop your full body weight or swing your arm into their body which often happens when I player gives themselves up. I'd also like to see this extended to stop players flopping again - why has this been allowed all of a sudden? A player is down and a second of their guy drops on.
No ankle taps - This is super strange.
Uncontested scrums - They basically are anyway so this won't change much as it's rare to see a push. I think scrums are embarrassing. We should either get rid of them or make sure the players pack down properly. Having the SR split and the LF not binding is a joke.
Player dipping into contact - There will now be some responsibility on the ball carrier to not dip into contact which I agree with. You are putting yourself in a dangerous position and giving the tackler little option. Coote did this all the time and ended up with concussion after concussion.

Is this like the riddle & cryptic mystic Meg thread then? Cryptic? Not getting you there Russs sorry. That's JJR's forte. Think it's pretty clear what I'm getting at here, the clowns that run our game are killing it with yet more stupid rule.changes. RL won't exist in 5 years at this rate.

You can see the backlash to the changes everywhere. RL is a contact sport and when you start taking away one of the things that makes the game so great (the physicality) you kill the sport completely. I get you have to try and take precautions to safeguard players but they've gone too far.
People that play RL know the risks. Anyone playing a sport with inherent dangers know the risks (any combat sport/motor sport etc).
This is all because of the ex-players suing the sport. I have every sympathy with anyone who is suffering with the likes of dementia but for fear of repeating myself.... they knew the risks!!!
What next? Combat sports banning any attacks to the head? F1 imposing a 60mph speed limit and fitting cars with black boxes?

The reduced space wouldn't have hampered Alec Murphy or Kenny Gill.off course players welfare is paramount but surely they know the risk before they step over the white wash their would be risk playing tick. We have had people lead with shoulder in the past surely that about the ancle tap is joke.

I don't begrudge ex-players suing various sports. While anybody playing a sport like RL knows the risk of serious injury; a player's welfare in the past was not the priority. Players played on after suffering a concussion and weren't given adequate aftercare or rest. Sports (and healthcare professionals) did fail in their duty of care.

Full list is here for anybody who wants to look: www.rugby-league.com/new-for-2024Number 19 Dixon... 'No ankle taps'. I can't see why that would be under consideration. It's crazy.

The persona who put the petition together made some good points. Especially about learning tackling technique at an early age.

I laughed at this, so I hope this was a joke and that you understand woke only exists in a far right head!
Jacko wasn't happy with this but the RFL are panicking wildly because of those explayers taking them to court.
When you weigh up the notion that most of the head injuries are the tacklers not the tackled it is interesting from all angles.
I guess, from my time coaching kids, that all youngsters are taught good technique but then you add preventing the pass and the wrestle etc that there will always be a danger of tacklers coming into contact with the head.

I would think anybody even very slightly right of your Comrade Corbyn would be 'Far Right'. If so class me as 'Far Right'.

I assume you're happy that the Anti-Woke messiah Alex Jones has been allowed back on Elon Musks Turd X, Think long and hard about calling things "Woke." There's a lot of former Rugby-league players that are part of the group of players that are looking to Sue the Rugby-league authorities in the UK That will probably disagree with your assumption that anything that protects players' long-term health long after they've retired is somehow " soft or unmanly." I had a parent that had dementia, And it's a horrible thing to deal with. But why don't you go online and visit whatever forum you read that tells you what to think or react to.
