In light of this, the IMG criteria and the need to generate large amounts of income other than from fans and selling players the Club needs to spend time over the next months generating a short medium and long term realistic and tested Strategic Plan. Not wish lists
This is a major change in the way in which the sport is operated and delivered and with the right expertise can be exploited. Not sure what expertise is on the Board but this needs the right visionaries and expertise to clinically develop this….potentially a major opportunity or if not planned and developed properly by the right people a big pit fall
Let’s hope the Club can take the opportunities offered here…it’s a step change…but has to be effectively planned and tested…not just words and numbers on paper…RL going into the modern delivery arena…which presumably is why IMG was brought in…exciting times if grasped…and dare I say not something that can be undertaken by just enthusiasts
RL moving into the 21st century
Thoughts welcome as always

Interesting how the Sky deal was sold on its obvious benefit areas but the more you learn the more it comes to resemble the Stobart deal.

Interesting how the Sky deal was sold on its obvious benefit areas but the more you learn the more it comes to resemble the Stobart deal. It's a terrible deal IMO. I dug up the math I did for it when it was first announced. "In 2021 it went down from £40m to £26m. Now it's gone to £20m in 2023. Overall that's a reduction of 50% (£20m) from 2020 until now. According to the Bank of England £20m, with inflation, would be worth £24,158,659. So to have a TV deal that is equivalent to 2020 we'd need to receive £48,317,318. But we've agreed a deal worth £20. So the actual real-world education from 2020 isn't 50%, it's a reduction of 58.6%. Now from 2021, when we received £26m, the real world value of that is now £30,613,901. By receiving £20m we've had a real world reduction of 34.67%. If be very interest to now how thew value was calculated two years ago and today to come to a reduction of 34.67% in their valuation of the sport." I wonder if that reduction of 34.67% is us paying them for cameras at all matches 😂 it's poor in my book. I'm pretty sure someone on the forum said RU clubs receive £11m each per year.

It's funny how even on here and in the face of this rubbish deal people are still saying things that make it sound like IMG will make all the difference but clearly there's no sign of it so far; quite the opposite really. It reminds me of why I have no faith in the business ideas that JJR makes so much of, mostly either all mouth and trousers or fur coat and no knickers but tons of clipboards to look busy.
The one thing that ru have always had is strong business/old boys connections which far out weighs any need to market and anyway, the legacy media do that for them whilst ignoring RL. If IMG don't see this as the single most important strategy point then they're as stupid and incompetent as any tory government and on a par with Sir Keith's tories ride again party.

Russ David Watkins came to us for £ 16,000 not because he wanted play on Willows if he was getting money why didn't he stay in the valleys That's a bit of a strange question dixon 1) the french were banned for secret payments to players in yawn and at the same time it was ignored that it was going on in Wales that's was the long game, the payments were known by everyone from before 1895 and the only thing northern clubs did was offer more. And that's why Dai came because it made a huge difference to his life.

The big difference was Rugby League players paid tax. Rugby Union players didn’t.
