Jack Dearden talking some right guff on the radio. Salford fan quite rightly pointed out that if a referee is unsure on the field then the decision should be made by the VR without onfield ref saying "I've got a try/no try" to influence the decision. How often has the VR ever overruled his mate on the pitch for fear of undermining him?

The ball steal, ok in NRL rules not International rules, so I’ve been told…now get training for that refs job…
I’ve seen so many videos and still no CONCLUSIVE proof on either try…perhaps your mysterious video could be posted…great game, best team won according to the Oz Coach…and the newspaper confirms Wigans win

Quite interesting that one, can’t remember it being shown, but obviously Video ref Kendall should have seen that…ball carrying arm hits the ground; tackled short; can’t blame Moore he can only give what he sees and then asks Kendall for help
Kendall 😩, as usual

It's ok, apology accepted.👍
The issue is Moore saw sweet FA. Look at the footage of when the try was "scored" and he's deep in the in-goal area and no chance he can see if the ball is either grounded or over the line based on the tacklers. He's guessed and got it completely wrong. Kendall compounds the error by backing up his mate when everyone else could see (from the angle everyone saw, not the one above) that he was short.
I don't see what the issue is with onfield ref stopping the game and asking the VR "sorry I couldn't see from my angle as my view was obscured, can you please review if the ball is short or over the line?". VR can then use multiple angles/replays to get decision correct. If Kendall didn't get the angle that was shown above and the guys in the studio did then something is seriously wrong with the system and the tech guys need a rocket up their jacksies. There's no excuses for it, just pure incompetency.
Anyone it's been done to death now so I'll leave it there. Like VAR in football, it's amazing how poorly we deal with technology to make correct decisions. I swear there must still be some sort of unintentional bias at play that humans struggle to keep out of their decision making process.

You want to try reffing one day and you might empathise with the refs…todays was beyond me, just couldn’t understand what the rules he was enforcing were…but without a ref…no game
Moore had to make a decision based on what he saw…end of really…as that’s all he can do

Away from all this rubbish about refs, well done Swinton for overcoming Oldham and reaching the next round of the CC.

1 thing I think the RFL and sky should bring back is the referee cam so everyone can see what he sees which should also make the decisions much easier as well
Good game of rugby shame about the decisions but it’s rugby a funny old game
On top of that they asked Ivan Cleary has super league caught up to NRL can’t remember what he said but in my opinion we are still years away from them …. And we will only catch up when we have teams which either have no overseas players or fewer overseas players with British players the stars not the overseas ones

Nice to see common sense prevailing. Unusually proactive for the RFL www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/68405490Ref cam would be good. Though, the Wardle try and last second Penrith no try highlight an issue with referees guessing. And, I still stand by the bias on those two decisions. Live, I don't know anyone who thinks Wardle was over. Live, everyone I've spoken to thought the Penrith guy scored. Yet, both went up the opposite. Then, the video ref claims to not have enough evidence in either case to overturn it. With Wardle, he's clearly down, clearly pulls his arm towards his body, which is double movement, and I still think he was short anyway. With the Penrith no try, I think the camera from behind the line shows the apex of the ball hitting the ground. Can you be certain, maybe not. The ref took a guess with Wardle after being in a bad position, walking around to the front after he pulls the ball towards him and gives a try. With the no try, he guesses again, based on walking over after Field lifts the arm back off the ground. What happened to the attacking team getting the venue of the doubt for the Penrith no try? I don't subscribe to the notion refs are bent, though Steve Ganson once told me an my dad he's a Liverpool fan and hates anything to do with Manchester (after my dad asked him about decisions in multiple games at amateur level, but the ref absolutely crumbled under pressure in that game and played to the crowd—Leening try, Wardle try, Penrith no try, and the ball steal. All, except the Penrith no try, were clear as day, imo, and the Penrith no try should have been sent up with the attacking team getting the advantage.

Give over JRR, if those decisions were given against Salford you'd be in uproar. Same goes for Wigan fans. They'd be furious if decisions like that cost them the Grand final or CC.

Watching the NRL in Las Vegas on tv, Apparently, NFL pitches are five yards smaller than RL Pitches, or was it metres. According to the Aussie Fox sports bloke, does that mean It will be more of a defensive couple of matches !?!?. Thankfully, the pitch is a grass surface, I doubt I'll manage to stay up for the end of the first game Manly v South Sydney at 3:30 am(my time zone) Definitely not Sydney Roosters v Brisbane at 5:30 am
