Some pretty embarrassing reactions on here over the last 12 hours or so. Why are we so quick to jump all over every rumour as fact as soon there is a mention of it by the media. Then it turns into a complete meltdown by some people , which seems to escalate to full on criticism of the club, the future, the board etc I think someone even mentioned about getting refunds on season tickets for next year. It's complete bonkers. Don't believe everything you read or hear in the media, jeez you would have thought the last few years made that pretty apparent.
Last point, brodie will be sold at some point. Get that seed planted now to soften the blow. I presume it will be to the NRL, but either way the whole point of that contract was to make sure we got a fee.

Unless he was about to sign a leigh contract I think it was really poor of sky to announce it. She has come out with some rubbish before so it doesn't surprise me if she's wrong. I felt for Rowley last night.

Very simple to kill rumours the professional way…come off the nonesense of Social Media and issue a Club Statement…as any organisation does with rumours

So far Paul King, Adrian Lam, Paul Rowley, and Brodie Croft's wife have all said it's nonsense. It doesn't worry me, but it's poor that these type of things happen when the club is building for next season with season tickets. Rumours from Joe3474392427 on twitter/X being made into news stories is not only bad journalism it sets a very bad precedent. The main broadcaster shouldn't be doing this until it 100% knows. This is what I’ve particularly been saying, whether it’s true or not with no rumours of incoming and a barrage of players leaving which we probably needed to happen. Then sky of all people tell you your best player is of really puts a damper on casual fans buying st

Sky causing panic amongst our fans for no reason and disrespecting Rowley who has driven to Hull to be part of the broadcast. We have signed players who will be announced in the coming weeks. The best we can do is get our season tickets renewed and back the club.
Is it JJR in Rowley you trust who was very pissed off with Skys questioning. They love Leigh the Blackpool of Super League.

My understanding is that Brodie's buyout is substantial 6 figures.I would be amazed if Leigh would have that kind of budget unless they are selling Lam. I think we are an easy punchbag for the press because we are generally a selling club.

The story didn't just appear on SKY though, more or less all the RL outlets have treated it as legit.
It may be that the club(SRD, JJR) feel this is so silly that respoding to it would be even more stupid.
And if it has no legs I don't blame them.
Most RL outlets are unfortunately just copy and paste affairs, where inaction over this kind of nonsense means that their share of clicks is reduced. Yes they are but when one after another pops up with the same stuff it will add/give it credibility. It's not like it was that idiot Mole on his Todd or even the lonely figure cut by SARL these days. It's not whether Brodie leaves or not that's the issue, it was the surprise, out of the blue element which wouldn't have been the case with the advanced very likely NRL interest.
The question is why Sky presented that possibility as an accomplished fact which was how it was reported in the rest.
My thought was .... do we have a replacement lined up or on the books? And this was mostly because of the importance of the spine which is much harder to fix than the the pack!

One thing I hate about modern society is everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame. So-called journalists in RL circles (and all media circles TBF) want to be the ones to break the "big news story". They'll literally post anything on social media to get the likes/subscribes and exposure. If 1 rumour in 20 comes off they give it the old "I told you so" as though they're some sort of f*cking oracle. The problem is there's no requirement for them to apologise for the other 19 BS rumours they've started which tend to cause meltdown within fanbases, as Carnster says above.
There's just no respect given at all and Jenna Brooks clearly just wants to make a name for herself by doing what she did last night. The whole timing of the announcement just before they cut to Wells/Rowley was nothing short of disgusting IMO. Would she have done the same if the rumour was French to Leigh and Matt Peet was the guest? I very much doubt it.
Maybe I'm being a touch sensitive but I really do feel the RL media try and find every opportunity to stick the boot in with the club and anything we do gets far more negative press then other SL clubs.

If I were Rowley I would have considered walking and leaving them on the lurch.Still the fee will pay some of his fine for telling the truth about reffing

It’ll be disappointing if the club does end up selling Croft. But earlier in the thread there’s been a news story posted about clubs losing money to the RFL.
The club needs to pay its wages and rent etc. If the club can’t make them payments it’s got to sell assets - either players or commercial assets. Unfortunately salford is probably the weakest team financially - there’s no deep pockets to dip into and those with deep pockets in Salford clearly aren’t interested.
I think the clubs walking a tight rope but we’re going the right way with attendances increasing and performance over last few years improved. Sadly the club could get within inches of financial stability and sustainability and fall off the tight rope because the RFL drops another clanger and deducts money from the clubs forcing Salford to sell a player to meet its financial obligations.

Not a good place to be in as you say crowds are on the up be if we start selling are better players again they will no doubt drop which would lead to a worse situation. We just need to hold out
