He played 19 games for us last season and 5 this year before he got injured which means he's played more games than Sidlow & Dixon put together. Since 2015 he's averaged around 25 games a season. For me he's worthy of the extension. The other 2 should be out the door come September and we can look at bringing in young & hungry lads to replace them. A decline then the last 2 years when he's stepped up to SL. What the last 10 years average has to do with it im not sure. The point is his body is struggling and he's gonna be 33 next season and he will carry the history of these injuries into that season. Agree sidlow and Dixon need to go, but helliwell is next in line and can go for me. However, he's not so I pray he gets fit and stays fit. But it won't happen and he will get a big injury at one point next season. This was an opportunity to bring more young lads in, which we've not take Always good to have a medical experts opinion. Cheers K.đ

Cheers K.đ Do you honestly think your average of 25 games a season since 2015 validates your argument? You do realise you don't getting fitter as you get older or recover fully from all Injuries? Ask lafai, who we all love, but again is picking up longer injuries as he's getting older.

So presumably, additional power, skill, technique, experience donât countâŚwe need a bunch of fit 21 year olds running round the field because theyâll recover from injury more quickly?
Watkins, SneydâŚshould we get rid of them because of their age and risk of injury ?

The way you're going on you're suggesting that he's injury prone. He's consistently played a decent number of games every season (apart from this) which suggests otherwise. He probably missed out on a few games last season while fit as well as he's not always been guaranteed a spot in our best 17 when everyone has been fit. If we're going to bin off players every time they have a few months out (it's a contact sport) we'd have no-one in the squad! Plenty of players play on way past 33 and are assets to their teams. He's not on massive money and his previous appearance record doesn't suggest his current injury is a sign of him breaking down physically (although I'm unable to predict future injuries like yourself sadlyđ).

I don't think contracts are handed out casually and the length regulates the position etc of the individual player.

I'm not suggesting he's injury prone, I'm telling you he's played a bit part of 5 games all season. Why on earth does that justify a new contract? You appear happy to throw what little money we have at journeymen who have hardly played this year. Not something I would view as good business as we have seen with sidlow and Dixon, who were inexpkicably handed multi year contracts. Which has backfired and put more pressure and workload on an already ridiculously thin squad. We need to make what little money we have work better and more efficiently. Putting that money into a young lad or 2 would make far more sense and who knows could potentially give us a valuable asset in the future. I don't think we are going to meet in the middle on this one. But if he does get fit and pulls a shirt on, I will as ever cheer him on.

There are 1 or 2 or even 4 or 5 Lewis Pye Foster Wilson and a young Wigan hookerâŚonly one of whom is first choice
I think we understand what youâre saying K but you also have to consider the balance of the squad

I am not worried by resigning Hellewell. He is just a squad players. Probably on no more than ÂŁ40k if that. Pretty much the case that all team sports have a blend of ambitious young novices and senior experienced pros as back ups.

Inu signed on for another 5 years I was about to post this, excellent news.
As an extra bit, he talks about keeping this coaching team together as part of his decision; let's hope so!

All he confirmed is that heâs committed to his current contract that ends next year he does clearly say âunless Salford want to sell meâ
Iâm not doom -mongering. Just trying to be clear on what was asked and what the reply was. Managing expectations etc. I hope he stays and I think he will but it might not be his decision

Certainly wonât be his decision if we only get 3000 through the gate like yesterday!really was no excuses for such a poor crowd yesterday nice weather no football it really isnât good enough and something the club need to address as 2 out of last 3 are Huddersfield and Catalan so they will be poor gates!
