Totally agree MTR, how can we have a true contest with unequal fixtures?
14 clubs, even if two initially were funded via Championship means, but with no relegation for 3 years…this system is ludicrous…IMG wanted to scrap it…but of course clubs want a bigger share of Sky and more games for income…

We should have 14 teams with no P+R. Then expand the league when (of IF) it ever becomes viable. No P+R would give teams the opportunity for more long term planning and youth development instead of trying to avoid relegation with short term planning and recruitment.

Which would mean all the Championship clubs will go belly up.
Only a fair monetary policy to involve ALL clubs will enable clubs to survive.

I’m sure there’s a compromise but basically the present system is not fit for purpose

The reason that stability and long term planning are not inbuilt parts of RL's structure is to keep the top clubs ... well TOP.
The more equal look to this season has energised the "haves" because it's been far to equal and success harder to come by. When the whole thing rests on regular success for the few the same things will be repeated again and again.
Under IMG they will be able to discard certain clubs fairly easily and the retaining of P&R up to now was useful in this respect. No matter how many times you point to both the disaster it has been for some clubs the idea is a bit like austerity completely stupid but has enough believers to keep turning up at regular intervals to punish and take away from those with nowt!

Which would mean all the Championship clubs will go belly up. Only a fair monetary policy to involve ALL clubs will enable clubs to survive. Why? All the Championship clubs will be in the exact same position they are now. Very few have any chance of ever getting in the top flight. The system in Australia works. The system we have doesn't work and isn't conducive to investment at the lower end of the club. Leigh haven't run extra teams this year. It's all about staying in the top flight and spending what you have to that end because going down will likely be disastrous (London, Toulouse, Widnes, Bradford, Halifax, even Leigh until Derek decided to give investment another go, and how would teams like ourselves and KR have gone on if we hadn't bounced back straight away?). benefit long term strategym there also isn't money in RL and there is going to be less and less if the last two TV deals are to go by. Both have seen a reduction despite inflation, so it's a double loss. And SL clubs are never going to share their revenue with lower leagues. SL attracts the most investment even though it isn't what it was. Even now teams are losing money each year and are reliant on benefactors. Ir can't be long until we end up with clubs going under like what's happened in RU.its unsustainable yet we've effectively increase the cap again for teams losing over £1 million. Crazy.

This is Rubbish we need 14 teams in SL. League One only has nine teams in 2024 After London Skolars decided to drop out and play in the southern conference League.
