Fortunately - at the moment - RL is propped up by 11 wealthy individuals and Paul King who doesn`t profess to be at their level.
The situation should be very worrying long term. Breaking it down Huddersfield in effect lose £250,000 per home game, the Big 4 even with huge gates lose over £100,000 per home game whilst we are best - if you can call it that @ £50,000 per home game.
It cannot go on can it? No wonder Sky cleverly kept their bid low.

The financial state of the game is amazingly less worrying than it might have been.
Partly the dependence on never ending success from certain clubs mean an imbalance in SL which is also showing little signs of any real change.
The reliance on rich owners/chairpersons & Sky is also part of the same problem.
The bid from Sky is a joke beyond measure. When the hell did any media organisation get to pay less for more product?
Their offer was an insult and an indictment of everyone involved.
There is no sport that is not economically challenged at present and we shouldn't underestimate the effects of covid which will be with us for decades.
As for the great IMG process, the question is can the game afford the changes they're putting forward.
This period has already shown signs of problems when Leeds sell Headingly. If that isn't a sad effort for success on the pitch I don't knpw what is!

Testament to the current management of the club that we lose the least and are currently competing for a play-off spot. For a club of our stature that is exceptional performance.
In the UK at least people get caught up in the vast sums of money involved in the in the likes of Utd and city but the reality is very few organisations in any sport in this country turn a profit. Take a look at the state of Championship/L1/L2 football clubs and most clubs in the RU Premiership.
The concerning element of RL's situation is that as usual there does not appear to be any coherent plan to try to take the game forward and to either minimise these losses or break even. Football/RU/Cricket at least seem to have a vaguely coherent strategy in play.
