What can you say, we were poor discipline is dreadful and we just keep in making the same stupid mistakes, constantly on the back foot hopefully we can get some fresh faces in and mix things up next season

I just found the whole match a lesson in self-destruction. It does baffle me that the players know the issues with penalties and brain fart RL that has infected us this half of the season. Yet continue to make the problem worse. It feels like the team have already resigned themselves to missing out on the play-offs this year, and to be honest, I'm beginning to feel that way myself. Get it finished.
I think devilsadvocate has some good points. We're not in the same league with personnel and punch way above our weight. It shouldn't be a massive surprise that as the season draws to a close we're running on fumes and are unable to increase the intensity when everyone else is doing so.
It's been an interesting season. Standard roller coaster for us Salford fans, but in all honesty it was probably mission accomplished at the halfway mark when it became clear that relegation wasn't on the cards. Until the money flows, I can't see the club changing its nature.

Really some people on here need to give their heads a wobble. Yes it was a poor performance but let's be realistic. Look at our team head to head with Wigan and other top teams. Wigan just to remind you bought "our best young player" on a whim when they already had 3 or 4 props better than any we have remaining. We are a maverick team and we rely on throwing the ball around. On some days it isn't going to work.We need to be 100% and make no errors and give away no penalties to win these games. If we drop below those standards against a top team we lose by varying margins. Wigan are currently the form team in the League. We have an ageing team. Some of our key performers are getting to an age where they maybe less effective on a regular basis. We are a rag tag collection of rejects, ageing or injury prone players. To be where we have been this year and last given our budget is a miracle that's due in no small part to our coach. Look at King for instance.Probably our most go forward pack man today. You pick him because if that go forward, his effort and yet he has given away 23 penalties in 23 games and tonight was sinbinned. As a coach looking at his options King has to play because no other player gives us what he does and yet he has these issues.I am sure Rowley would love a player who has King's assets but has better discipline but we can't afford that player. We have the lowest budget in the League and clearly not had the money to address our weaknesses. So perspective.Would you rather be Wakey Jeez, I don't know why we bother turning up then I'm all for perspective, but that's just a list of excuses. As posted by carnster, that was self destruction last night, with repetitive stupid, basic disciplinary issues. We need to regroup this summer and rethink the tactics and rejig the personal. We can't keep signing old players then be surprised when there injured and whinge about squad strength. We can be the worst disciplined team in the league and do some of the incredibly stupid things we do and then whinge about referees And finally, we cannot have only one style of plan and not have the ability to adapt it. Its is narrow minded and although fun to watch at times, has been found out this year and teams know how to play against it. Time to learn, evolve and move forward.

I think Carnster summed it up…running on fumes…Wigan know how to preserve energy for end of season run in…and we just don’t have the funds/resources…But we’re in for next year and not fighting with Cas and Wakey

We can’t just keep blaming the lack of investment. Rowley signed his players in the off season. He’s paid to coach a team who can only play one way then crumble when it’s not going to plan. The players putting effort in costs nothing, we looked devoid of effort last night compared to Wigan who had a short turnaround.

Maurice - Suggest you & Worsley etc go and join your family at Wigan.
Obviously you do not understand how finance in SL works so your continued bashing of the players/coaching staff can be eliminated.
We are but a small club (with a small s) living within its means & well coached. We are half way in the table with the smallest budget.
By the way - Have a look at Wigan/Saints/Leigh Balance Sheets and just see the DEBT in their clubs.
In life you get what you pay for.

Point is we do need to make some adjustments to the squad which I’m sure we will do. I just can’t get behind this small club mentality a lot of youse have

Some on this forum need to realise what we are,we are not a top six side,we are a team that with luck and a fair wind can make the top six Anyone who thinks other wise are deluded. Get another coach in even if it's the Australians test coach what I have said above doesn't change. For me Rowley had earned is money when we reached 20 Ponts, and if anyone on this forum thought it would have been different with Marshall Watson Harris Sheen's Noble are even more deluded. Some go on about our indisapline so Rowley tells them, right lads you no what to give a load of penalties away and by the way go easy in the tackle we don't want you hurting anybody or to Mark Snyed if you get a free kick don't get as much distance as you can anything will do Ps WE ARE NOT A TOP SIX SIDE

We have two players injured Gerrard and Wright. Are we well coached?? On the balance of last night No it was all over. Doing the basics right costs nothing from Grassroots right up to Super League.

We need to adapt and play smart against better opposition and not think we are the Harlem Globetrotters, because when we're off we are easy to play against and beat. This season there has been no variation in Rowley's approach to games and that is poor. Its kind of a **** or bust approach. Matt Peet had our pants down last night.

We've done our bit off the pitch this season with community investment and getting more punters in which in turn compliments the clubs vision of growth. Rowley has to improve us on the pitch and this year we've gone backwards for reasons stated many times mainly we have one way of playing, if it fails we lose.

Disagree, Rowley gives us big club mentality with the smallest budget…a few of the players are knackered but can’t rest..we can’t afford young players
If you think it’s not about money…we sold our youngest forward for apparently the highest ever fee and he’s only on their bench when fit..we couldnt afford to keep him
As a lot of coaches have said…the league this year is close..So enjoy the ride..and we’re still in with a shout…Leeds would change places with us

Last night Rowley tried to run around Wigan, it was a poor game plan and the players execution was worse. Peet knew our plan. Money has nothing to do with it, we play one way only, it has been worked out by the whole of Super League and as of yet our coach has not addressed the failings when it does not work. Fixing this is free and it is Rowleys job on the training ground. I hope he fixes it as if he does not wins next year will become tougher.

I really don’t think we’re far of a top 6 side. 2 dominant props is the difference for me and depth

Agree mate but whatever we say we’re short of money and hence the squad is too small and frail, especially at this time of the year.
And let’s stop this idea that money doesn’t count
To me the amazing thing is that if we do manage to get a couple of good props, change a few of the squad and expand it a little, that with a fair wind we’re a top six team
