Too young to see him play but met him at the willows along side his son Steve some years ago, lovely bloke and by all accounts from my dad a very good player too. RIP

For those of us of a certain age this is awful news. Eric was one of my heroes, a wonderful player and will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

As they say nowadays the epitome of a player who left everything on the pitch.
If every player had Eric's commitment then they would make a great team.More than just committed but also an excellent player.
Always a pleasure to watch him in among a talented team and always very consistent.

Us old uns look back on that team with wonderful memories. How lucky were we to see the likes of Eric and the rest of that team in their prime.

Eric was a real fans favourite, he gave 100% each time he pulled on the shirt, he was an excellent player, one of the very best.RIP
