HKR murdered us around the ruck. They played the ball very quickly and we were lazy and slow. Early errors set the platform for our disjointed display. I've seen us make similar starts all season but the difference today was that they didn't dig in and work themselves out of those errors. When it didn't click they just put their heads down which isn't like us at all. I think the loud HKR fans helped the official on a few 'calls' and the relentless calling of forward was highly irritating.
No complaints from me, HKR deserved it from minute one until eighty. Now we've got that performance out of the way, onto next week. I don't think it will do us any harm to be humbled. I've been getting the feeling that the team were starting to listen to all the hype and getting brought back down to earth will refocus them hopefully.

No excuses today club pulled out the stops and team stayed over last night so no long coach journey this morning, really disappointed just shows again think we just miss some real power in the forwards it’s the forwards that lay the platform and just think we’re a couple short to win silverware unfortunately

No excuse for that performance today. Not good enough. Poor in every department. KR didn’t play very well but were still far too good for us.

youtu.be/nc9Dz7MyiikHighlights look at the like of effort on try 2 and the laziness on try 3 is unforgivable bar Brierley who makes the tackle it’s school boy errors. Rowley should get them in tomorrow to watch the video.

They dominated us in the ruck. Always pokong their nose through. Offloads. Landing on their front. Quick play the balls. We were the total opposite and out defence lacked the intensity we've been used to this season but when you have four knock-ons and two penalties in the first 12 minutes you're putting yourself in a position to get gassed.
We seem to struggle for metres if we can't make breaks on the edges or with an inside ball - today the plays were lethargic and telegraphed. We don't have much go forward in the pack when the going gets tough and desperately need a big man to take the next step. We struggled for metres in the second-half at Wigan and eventually we tired. Wigan are similar to us at the moment with their injuries, they lack go forward and we're dominated by Catalan and Saints.

I think that we have to accept that playing the way we do, some days it comes off and some days it doesn’t. Should we change the way we play to a more boring and safe style of play? Not on your Nellie.

Not on your Nellie. We shouldn't change our style but you need to be able to adapt to game situations. We knocked on 4 times in 12 minutes, completed one set that ended in a terrible kick, and gave away two penalties. If I were the captain, I'd have told the lads, the next three sets, we run hard, kick deep, chase well, and defend. Win territory, settle down, and then open up again. You have to earn the right to play and keep the opponent's defence honest. Today, Hull KR had our number easily in defence. RL is all about territory, make your opponents go 90m every set and you won't concede many... keep dropping the ball in your own half and you'll burn up your energy defending and give away points.

Now your assessment of how RL is played generally is correct that would appear to change SRD's style. When you consider it's a weakness at the ruck that causes most of the problems, along with errors of course. Earning the right is straight from the Manly playbook.

Now the dust has settled best we move on from yesterday - Rowley was furious and the players will be held to account. No doubt they will be off today as it’s Father’s Day but from tomorrow onwards working to fix the defence and plan around Wigan from tomorrow.

Not on your Nellie. We don’t need to change the way we play we just need big powerful explosive props to get us in the front font which will make space on the edges which we will exploit. Rowley seems to know this already hence us looking to bring more in next year. Hopefully we can get one thus season.
