As we move into the 2nd half of the season and embracing a new ownership model, I thought it right to pause for thought and show gratitude.
This came from having a chat with both Paul King and Paul Trainor at the weekend about the club's trajectory and the fantastic community share ownership scheme buy in/success to date. The positivity on this forum right now about our club is immense and long may it continue.
So here is the gratitude................
I'd just like to say 'Thank You' to Paul King for standing up and being counted. This is a guy who has twice put his house on the line for our club in the past 5 years. A person that beats cancer in 2017 (As documented in his own article 'Saving Salford') and then steps up to pick up the pieces from the failure that was the Marwan Koukash tenure at Salford RFLC. The guy has shown selflessness, commitment and leadership throughout his time as our Managing Director, he's shown courage to take us into the unknown with our new Community Share Scheme to shape our clubs future for the better. On the field during Paul's time at the club we've reached two major finals and a semi final, and most importantly retained our best talent to build a team that can challenge in coming season's rather than for one season with the lowest budget in the league. Paul King is the guy who wants to change the narrative around our Salford Red Devils.
In coming months Paul King will step down as a Club Director to become our Managing Director, accountable to our 1,000+ strong group of investors. I think Paul King is the best CEO/MD in Super League (and credit goes also to all those at the club working alongside him in any role). Next time I see Kingy, I'll ensure he knows I'm grateful for what he has done for this fantastic club and may be offer him a Guinness.
