Best part of yesterday for me was the 25 consecutive tackles we completed on our own try line in the 1st half without conceding. Leeds threw everything they had at us (admittedly that wasn't much in comparison to recent years) and yet we stood strong. If we can maintain that commitment in defence we will be a very hard team to break down. At SL level, holding any team out after so many tackles is a great effort.

I've been watching Salford since 1987. That's the first time I've seen us beat Leeds. I know we've beaten them 2 other times in that time but I wasn't at either game. As far as i'm concerned we could have kicked the ball 11m from every drop out, had Jimmy Kranky at prop and managed the game like George Osborne is managing the economy and I'd be as happy as I've ever been. Make no mistake our defence was immense. This Leeds team might not be anywhere near last year's or earlier ones but to keep any team with burrow, McGuire, hardaker, Galloway and Watkins in it scoreless for 73 minutes is an incredible achievement. Neither attack really fired but that's not too surprising in the conditions. We lost narrowly at home to Leeds last year and they didn't play much better than they did yesterday. We wouldn't have won that game in previous years. Yesterday we did.mlets celebrate that. There's definitely room for improvement but that was a good win. Every win is a good one. I've never known a season like this one. It is almost impossible to call every game. Wakefield best Wigan 62-0 today. I had to check that on 3 different websites before I believed it And a big hats off to the Foundation for the tournaments they had earlier in the day. We had around 600 kids aged 7 to 12 playing in 3 venues in the afternoon. With typical Salford luck the beautiful spring sunshine turned into driving rain and hail as soon as they kicked off but there were still a few hundred kids plus coaches and parents who came to the match. Superb effort by all involved and shows how we are starting to put the building blocks in place, building connections with the local clubs and getting the kids to games. Great stuff In case you can't tell I'm pleased by yesterday and unusually proud to be a Salford fan ?
