That the Doc/Sheens/Watson Don't follow suit and repeat the despicable tirade that we as a team and the Doc personally suffered last season after the Leeds defeat.
Brilliant performance from 1-17, shocking performance by Leeds but disgraceful effort by Bentham, the RFL and himself should look at today and feel very ashamed.

Bentham hammered us but, strangely,we were on the right side of his major decisions,he had a bad match and was clearly guessing on a few occasions which means he didn't have much help from the touch judges. Robert Lui made a fundamental difference and it was the defence that won it for us,obviously. We played a strong game but I just don't see how Leeds, with so many top players on the pitch, irrespective of injuries,we're so bad. They were awful.

AT LONG LAST WE HAVE DONE IT - 21 YEARS OF OUR FRIENDS FROM YORKSHIRE TAKING THE P@SS
One man does not make a team but tonight we saw a great effort by Robert Lui...
Now then the Ref in my opinion he should be dropped for next week fixtures because at times tonight he was not up to Super League standard.

Couple of things that I noticed last night, Leeds on 2 occasions that I saw formed a quick scrum and then changed the personnel in the scrum, pretty sure that you must complete with the same people as formed it.
We have the worst goal line drop outs I've ever seen, every other team are getting up near the half way line (if you watch the NRL pretty much everyone clears it on the fly), the one that went straight right was shocking and I don't even know what he was attempting. Said it before get our kickers spending a few afternoons with the Sale kickers ar like it or loathe it RU kickers are generally much better kickers.
George Griffin looks shot to me, think he has been a revelation so far but is doing huge minutes for such a small prop, I'd hope he is rested for the cup game to allow plenty of time to refresh.
BMM has been worked out by other teams, you could see them aiming up on him every time he took the ball up, I'd be switching between flanks during the game to keep the opposition guessing and have him taking one up the middle on sets deep in our own half, he's our biggest forward but isn't being used anywhere near enough.

Should have added our game management at times was poor, a couple of times the ball should have been kicked into touch when instead we kicked infield and allowed Leeds possession in open field when it should have been a clock eating set piece.

Like I said on Twitter, I'll take a mediocre win over a committed loss any day. While, by all accounts, we were not that smart at times it's nice to see that the hunger and mentality have returned. Lui is obviously a talisman for us as the players around him seem to gain a little bit more in their efforts when they are around him. Sounds like Wood had a decent game which is nice to see as quite a few have slagged him off after his last game. People need to remember he's only played four SL games. Leeds were awful and they and their fans are learning the realities of being a lower tier team means that those fifty-fifty decisions go against you, and no matter the calibre of your players they need to work harder for the spoils.

Think we were attempting to drill the ball into touch, which would have resulted in a Salford scrum. I don't see anything wrong with adding a bit of variety the restart kicks.

I see what you mean but for that to be effective the opposition needs to think we are going to kick the drop out a long way, we didn't all day so they were naturally lined up closer making the likely hood of the ball finding touch remote. At that point in the game risk free rugby by numbers should have been the way.

Blimey! You'd have thought we'd been beaten by seventy points reading this thread...

Blimey! You'd have thought we'd been beaten by seventy points reading this thread... Exactly. Focus on just how strong we were in defence, how effective the Walnes were when they came on,the improvement in Jones' game and the transformational effect that Lui had. We took a long time to score so Leeds had plenty of time to play themselves into some sort of rhythm and ultimately failed. it was a big win so celebrate it. Finally,if we do have a points deduction and Leeds / Huddersfield continue to struggle the teams in the play offs will be the strongest yet, although that's probably a contradiction

The difference it is constructive, it's nostalgic isn't it.
A win is a win, but in all reality it was against a team who looked like rabbits in the headlights all day, we invited them back into the game and against a better team some of the on field choices we made would have resulted in a lose, the defence was the best I have seen from Salford in a long long time and bodes well when we have a fully fit attacking backline (Carney for me looked like if there had been better options he wouldn't have been played).

Couldn't get to the game so I had to listen online. Switched over to Leeds radio for the second half and was pleasantly surprised to hear Ritchie Mathers singing the praises of the defensive and general effort by Salford. Thought at one stage we were going to nil them. Great result, I say the Salford Reds are rising.

Best part of yesterday for me was the 25 consecutive tackles we completed on our own try line in the 1st half without conceding. Leeds threw everything they had at us (admittedly that wasn't much in comparison to recent years) and yet we stood strong. If we can maintain that commitment in defence we will be a very hard team to break down.
