Huge few weeks coming up to take us to the mid-point of the season.
Saints away is tough no matter how they are playing. They had a few bodies back today. They'll be better with a game under their belt. Plus I think they expect a couple more back next week.
Hull KR are playing extremely well and showed tonight that they can play without Abdull.
Hull FC have turned it around the past couple of weeks.
If we get two wins I'll be made up. It looks like we may lose a few bodies. On the radio it sounded like a few players had knocks plus we already have several out. Definitely doing it tough. Super proud of the boys.

That's something we can take from Leeds on the media/social media front. Post-game interview, sponsors in the background, up on YouTube. Quick and easy win.

What an absolute pleasure that was. Gritty backs to the wall defence wins it again. Sneyd’s short kicking game was magnificent, we stayed disciplined, and every player turned up in defence. We were much smarter in the second half than we were vs Catalans, and that helped keep it fairly comfortable. Leeds got frustrated with it and killed themselves through ill discipline.
We’re not clicking in attacking and haven’t for weeks. I guess a bit too much disruption in the back line, but that’s four in a row we’ve toughed out. Very impressive. With a few key players back we will kick on. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Firstly I have been critical of Smith, but he gave us a fair crack last night. Newman the dirty sod was lucky to stay on after his late hit on Syned and Austin committed a professional foul. I was sat with my mate in the South Stand so got a great view.
I thought the forwards were outstanding, especially King, Dupree, Wright and Olmondroyd. Stone also had probably his best game in a Salford shirt.
At times it was pleasing like the chase on the Ackers 40m kick that forced a goal line drop out and at times it was tough. We certainly rode our luck, Leeds ball retention was poor and they looked devoid of idea's in attack.
Our backs looked at of sorts, Burgess seemed to be carrying a knock and Longstaff was covering at centre. Cross made some good runs last night, but v Saints we surely have to play Watkins in the centre assuming Costello plays full back. Our attack especially the backline has not got firing yet probably because our first choice players have not started. I'd move Wright into 2nd row if Gerrard is fit and Watkins into the centre.
All in all a decent win, the defence and enthusiasm to defend was the plus for me - although we need more in attack next week.

You can only get th3 backs going from a good base from the forwards…I’d keep Watkins there. Costello fb, Longstaff Centre, who’ll improve. Or maybe Atkins stays at fb. Teams are about working together, understanding each other and patterns…let’s leave the pack as stable as it is…but be good to see MTR…he always seems to pull the rabbit out of the hat
Amazing how Rowley brings them on…Watkins, Wright, now Stone…all now really good forwards…and yet Jones and Yates at Hudds seem to underperform

Just got back....well seems like it as the Traffic congestion in Leeds was horrendous. Home @ 1am. Would guess Salford Slim yet to get home.
Yet the late return was worth it. We were excellent last night - so well drilled - very few mistakes and the team spirit was terrific.
Special raps to Atkin, Cross and Wright - 3 lads who just go about their work without fuss. Just hope they have contracts for 2024 and beyond as they were heroic last night and SO professional.
MoM would be tricky to judge BUT it has to be Sneyd. What an inspirational signing that was. I wonder if Bleasey has another pop for a returnee as Evalds isnt over performing at Cas and he can cover FB and wing.

Thanks for the breakdown MTR.
Agree about Watkins if there is no Costello. He's an international calibre player with years of experience in the C. However, Rowley clearly values him too much in the SR. He started Longstaff there yesterday and Alagainst Hudds, when Burgess went off, he put Stone at C and Costello to the wing.
Speaking of Costello, he's played well at C, especially defensively, but the two dropped balls when he went on the wing against Hudds does not give me any confidence in playing him at FB. Those were easy kicks to take. I'd prefer Atkin there. Atkin also covered for Brierley last year so I presume that'll be the case again.
We can then have an extra forward on the bench to rotate and try to keep everyone a little fresher. It sounded like we were gassed against Leeds. Being out on our feet cost us against Wigan. Almost cost us against Catalan - I don't think we'd have won in golden point.
We obviously have players playing with knocks. Their efforts have been superhuman! It's so pleasing to see the improvement in defence this season. It'll be interesting to see who we have available next week. Longstaff had ice on his leg after the game and on the radio they made out like a few players were hobbling. I'm sure who ever goes out there will give an excellent account of themselves and we have ever chance of winning.

Didn't sound like 10-3 on the radio. Sounded fairly even. They mustn't be counting six-agains as penalties. There was a defensive set late in the game where we gave away three six-agains in the space of five tackles.

It was a strong performance last night. I need to watch it again as I was a bit tipsy and lots of the action seemed to happen at the other end of the pitch. And I missed our second half try when I was at the bar 🤦♂️
We were very disciplined and Leeds weren’t. That was the difference. The south stand did its best to influence proceedings by calling for forward passes and six agains constantly. But fair play to the ref for largely ignoring them. Seen far worse referee performances there. Rohan Smith seemed to agree with most refereeing calls in his post match interview.
We were strong and controlled with ball in hand while Leeds overplayed too often. We rode our luck at times but we stood up really well in defence. Leeds still threatened when they got their offload game right and their first try was very good.
The pack were all massive. I thought Wright was very good again. But it felt like we had most control of the middle when Dupree and King were both on pitch. As others have said Cross had a good game. Atkin was very very good at full back. Pretty much faultless. And a mention to Longstaff. He was targeted by Leeds and given too many hospital balls where he was (legally) flattened. But he showed great resolve and just kept going. Was good to see him come up with a try.
Is that 3 wins at Headingley in about 5 years? Now let’s see if we can end our saints away hoodoo…

I said at the time I was sure the offload for Myler's try was forward and having played it back a number of times I haven't changed my mind.
