I was thinking about the club lottery and how we could maximise it. I remember my parents playing way back in the 90s. The people who run it obviously do a fantastic job - there are cash prizes of £2,750 per week. It occurred to me that I never see anything about it but surely it's an area the club could help grow.
I searched the website and scrolled through the last few weeks of tweets and Instagram and there was nothing. They also haven't given the people who run the lottery an official email which adds a layer of professionalism and is free. I was thinking: - Use an official email address - lottery@salfordreddevils.net, or superdraw@ or goldenline@ look better than salfordsuperdraw@gmail.com (you can even direct the emails to be forwarded to salfordsuperdraw@gmail.com if you wanted to).
- Create a weekly post highlighting the winners which will appear in the website's news feed.
- Ensure the post goes out on Twitter and Facebook and contains a link to signing up and information on the prizes.
- Add a picture of the results to Instagram each week and put a link to signup in the comments.
- Maybe create a short video clip each week of the draw and add it to TikTok, YouTube, and other social media with tags.
We could also take this further by setting up automated subscriptions on the website. It's easy to do, and people don't need to fill in direct debit forms. Though the offline process can still be used, the advantage of also offering an automated online process would allow us to cast a wider net to attract participants, especially with an increase in publishing information to help market it.

I think its a voluntary lottery run by Colin on behalf of the club. I do agree with your points, it is another opportunity to modernise and expand an existing SRD competition. Best to speak to the Supporters Trust or Club around this BDB.

Best to speak to the Supporters Trust or Club around this BDB. Details of how to join the lottery are on the club website, click on contact us, this gives you a link,I have been in it for years, just a couple of £10 wins, but I do it to help the club.

As far as I know, it's still tied in as part of Bolton Wanderers draw. Cheaper than running our own, guaranteed prizes to Salford bit of the draw and better final income.

Ahhh, I did notice that the license is attached to a Bolton Wanderers account. I thought it seemed a lot of prize money based on only Salford fans being a part of it.

I think there are about 15-20 clubs that are part of the Goldenline draw for a variety of sports. The club joins the lottery and receives around 70p per £1 paid in. I stopped doing it as soon as I realised Bolton were clearing over £100k a year on it. I just do the halftime draws and raffles now.

Yea, I was looking at lotteries before I posted as I was unsure which type it was and what rules we were limited by. I didn't know it was part of a multi-club lottery so my ideas are somewhat invalid now 🤦
I don't know all the ins and outs of lotteries but I was thinking if you have people subscribe online then the admin is practically zero. You just need to do the draw, publish the results and send payments. We'd then be able to cast a wider net. But, I didn't know the lottery wasn't ours then.

It was our own lottery when Brian Snape was chairman one of the prizes one year was a car. We joined with other clubs during John Wilkinson's tenure I think it was because it was getting hard recruiting people to go round collecting.
