.... and I thought you'd be interested:
I've no idea why it came up on a list of stuff I was searching that was completely unrelated.

I saw Paul King yesterday and he looked on very good form, nothing was mentioned on Saturday about the need to attain 200K imminently. Anyway JJR, read this article, you'll see what King has done for this club its going well above and beyond.

Think that's why we've asked for a £350.000 loan from the council.

Great article. Very well put. Warts and all. Just goes to show the hard work that has gone in over the past few years, on and off the pitch. Before giving up my job, for my health and sanity, I could have easily afforded the £1k tier of the scheme. As I am at the moment, I might be able to get together £100 with a bit of birthday cash in June, but I'll definitely purchase what I can once I get back on my feet financially speaking. Until then, I'll do what I can in a voluntary capacity and bang the drum at each opportunity. I've managed to talk one friend into the £250 tier and he's never been to a game. If I'm in a position to buy a season ticket next year, I'll get him to purchase one too. He's an older guy, just about reaching retirement so he needs a hobby!
It really is do or die for the club. Let's jump over that final hurdle!

Wonderfully written article, really brought a lump to my throat that.
That's why I love rugby league because of my dad and my grandad. 👍

No MTR, I try and support you and try to put some humour and controversy in but not for me. Very interesting the bit on Marwan, I’m no fan, but without him there would have been no SL Club at Salford. He had a go in his way, ploughed in £5m and lost. But the Club survived and we wouldn’t even have been discussing this without him. Additionally he brought in Blease and Watson and Watson brought in Rowley, so you could say that’s part of his inheritance…not sure who brought in Marshall. And Marwan gave the Club many years ago to the Community but it’s just now becoming a Community Club
I also heard that in the early days after he left he supported the Club by funding some players inc Jackson Hastings and the ST with Bleasy raised £17k for Joey Lussick in two weeks so the Club could survive again. It’s easy to play down the past, because the past can’t put its view…and as some say, cheap shots
I only bring up some of these points for balance…..the one person I do respect is old John, Mr Salford, who ran the Club for n years but again has been berated by some for trying v v hard and taking the Club from the Willows and he again can’t defend himself, but a nicer guy you can’t meet.
Re the Share Option Scheme..the ST presented it to the Board about 4/5 years ago, in a fuller version after two years of hard work inc visiting Clubs running these schemes and researching others and had sponsored backing but the Board stated it had its own plan and didn’t want to go down that pathway…which was its choice as it had th3 authority. Dave Campbell, the th3n Chair worked tirelessly on this but gave up.
Good journalism, no not in my book; good journalism is about balance not bias, not selling ideas or oneself, and giving the reader information and facts to make a judgement not persuading them to your view….that’s the Murdoch way. To me we salute the past and praise those that tried but failed not use their failings for….
So that’s it for me on non rugby issues..certainly not a good taste in my mouth, so I won’t even read those in the future, getting messy…so MTR, we’ll hopefully debate Rugby matters with humour and controversy mate…keep up the good work..and non rugby matters I’ll leave to you guys

Great article with real honesty from Paul King. I have some questions regarding him using his home against a loan for the club.
Has the loan been settled now and is Paul debt free regarding the club?
If this hasn’t been cleared, will the first part of any money be used to clear the loan so there is no further risk to Paul?
I guess anything like this will need to be “ levelled” before votes are issued to those investing. I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable receiving my vote for my small investment, when other people are sacrificing their livelihood.

On a recent podcast he mentioned he'd recently (within a week or so of the podcast) remortgaged two properties - I think this is the second time he's done it?

The guy must have nerves of steel, so fair play to him, but I just don’t get how he can feel comfortable with having the same voting power as a person puts £100 into the club.
Please be sure in no way am I trying to rock the boat. I just don’t get the community ownership when some are more financially committed than others before we start.
