Well the ST proposed a Share Option Scheme with a costed Plan and sponsors behind it about 5 years ago but the Club said it had a Strategic Plan and wasn’t interested. We’ve now seen the Plan, a Community Share Option, amazing, some years later, really hope it’s successful. Not overly ambitious but at least it’s a start. And shareholders should have access to the accounts plus other benefits, inc % off merchandise😉
Interesting times, wonder if it’s recurring?

It's not recurring JJR, though you can upgrade to a higher tier. Why don't you think it's ambitious? The only other option to raise capital that I can see is to take the approach AFC Wimbledon did, which was to sell off a % of equity: www.seedrs.com/afcwimbledonThey've done 2/3 rounds I believe. But, I'm not sure what Salford would be valued at or what we could expect to raise that way. Would we be attractive for investors who are looking for dividends? That option also doesn't give a fan the chance to be an owner, or an equal voice to that's of others, as the one share per person set up with the community scheme does. There's no mention of a % off merchandise in the pitches so I don't think that's on the agenda, maybe for the £10k tier since it's a customised package.

Well said BDB I will commit my tier to establish this Rugby Club, as will my kids and wider family whatever they can afford. Its not about a return its about creating a sustainable future and legacy.

Bundesliga, Barcelona etc models which are minority up to 49% industry based…where the big money is…but at least after 4/5 years after the ST efforts it’s beginning to move towards the right direction… other major soft funding initiatives and lots of other partnership sources are around……it’s a major opportunistic field but it all depends where you set your sights and what your ambition is…
% off merchandise an appreciated joke😉

The Bundesliga models are interesting. I know it's a 50% + 1 share rule but that's the limit of my knowledge. Would there be commercial interest in buying 49.9% of the club? Would there be enough fans to afford the 50% + 1 share? I'd assume that fans would have to get together an organisation, like the supporter's trust, all be members of the trust and the trust own the 50% + 1 share? Because if it was thousands of fans owning a combination of 50% + 1 share then you wouldn't actually have ownership control, like you would it it was one body.
If the club was given to the fans at 50% + 1 share, we wouldn't be raising money from that source and would be totally reliant on the 49.9% purchase from investors... if the interest was there. I do wonder what the value of the club is.
With the new model, it looks like a good way to generate immediate cash from the fans who would then own the club.
Theoretically, in the future couldn't fans vote to form one body that owns the club - with all fans having one share in that body and new fans welcome to join - and then sell up to 49.9% equity in the club to commercial investors? That could be an option for future funding... maybe? I'm not savvy on this stuff.
Didn't know about the joke... Do now 🤣🤣🤣
