I've spent the morning looking for confirmation of his passing. I can't find any. There's a Canadian report of a Michael John Coulman who died on 8th April, but no mention of our Mike Coulman. How sure are you of this sad news? If true, I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends. He was a colossus in our great team of the late 60s and 70s.

I remember a forty yard try Mike Coulman scored at the Willows. I think we were playing Blackpool Borough, and as he dived over the line at the Variety Club end, from the cricket ground end, you could see a trail of bodies on the floor which showed his route to the line.
My deepest sympathies go to his family at this sad time.

Great player; my abiding memory of him in a match we were winning quite easily was of him catching the ball from the ko, running through the line, getting up to full speed and watching the opposing fb sidestep away from him…sensible guy.

I remember a similar, or even the same situation. Against York, I believe. The full back ran the other way.

A friend of mine used to train with him…Mike used to do runs and sprints dragging a large tyre behind him…my mate who was a cracking tough athlete just used to stand back and admire him..he said he was in a different league
