I was reminiscing with friend about the early sixties,it wasn't a particularly good period but saying that we did have some good players, one person who came to mind was a boy we singed a Welsh Rugby union international stand off called Ken Richards I think it was about 61 when came he kicked goals but if I remember rightly he used to drop kick them he also had a great side step he past away before he was 40 a sad loss does anyone as old as me remember him maybe Early Bath does.

You can say that again!😉
As a *relative youngster of 45 years old I've seen barely no footage of Salford pre-mid 80's. 1989 was my first season. Shamefully I would struggle to name any Salford player from the 60's as well as there just isn't the level of literature/media footage out there that there is with the likes of football.
Would love to see some old footage of our great teams if there's any out there.

Good post Dixon.
Very vague memories of him but his kicking stood out. Used to drop kick virtually everything even conversions from the touchline but I don't remember him in attack.
From that era I remember Graham Jones scooting down the wing, Dai Moses, Cliff Evans of course and the blonde prop Graham McKay.
Oh also the Tea Hut atop the hill at the Cricket club end. It was also always raining or fog!

Ken Richards signed for us in August 1961 ,and I remember him playing in an “a” team game, pouring with rain, ground waterlogged as usual, he received the ball, made a run kicked over the opposition, regathered the ball and scored under the sticks. He was very tall for a hall back, excellent player.
