Marcus GRIFFITHS the ref; apparently he blew as soon as Wakey dropped the ball which stopped the Wright try and he gave his first incorrect ptb to wipe out a Sneyd drop kick BDB for your next quiz type offerings it might be worth us awarding points on referees performance and maybe players performances for that matter…..don’t think we’ll have many in this weeks Team of the Week Costello in team of week

Some trivia about Marc Sneyd yesterday Marc Sneyd is the first Salford player to score two drop goals in a single game since Mark Lee kicked two in the clubs 14-12 victory over Adelaide Rams at The Willows in August 1997.

IIRC they had a really short arsed HB who can't have been more than 5'3/5'4. The return leg over there we got battered. I don't even remember them being any good, I think we were just shyte!😁 Did anyone on here make the trip over?

I just watched the game back on Red Devil TV, it was a game with errors in it but equally we did defend well most of the time. My observations:
King was really positive going forward and in defence – his best game this year for me. Addy looked strong when he came on for his first stint. Costello's defence was decent against Lynne, he can do a job for us and for me was our best player. Syned kicking was improved and our chase was better. Williams errors may have cost us. The attempted catch was poor for their 2nd try and then throwing a stupid pass on our line early doors giving away a drop out, then the execution on the bounced ball, that is a try bombed which you'd have back him to score - He needs to improve against Wigan. Wakefield also kept going high on him. Crofts defence decent, his attack was limited at times. Brierley better under the high ball. Shame he did not pass when he broke threw the line. Wright was busy. Looking at Stone's 25 mins spell? I was not impressed, there were a couple of missed tackles and I did not see him take the ball in, he may as well be a centre, Wright took the ball in twice in on our last set before full time hooter to get a drop goal position for Syned. We need to see much more from Stone, him involved and being direct.
On a final note Griffiths made some odd decisions.

Just watching it back. We started pretty well. Both King and Ormondroyd busting tackles. Looking dangerous when we went wide. Good defence
but had 3 unforced errors in first 5 minutes. Costello miles off side from kick off 1st set. No need to be. Then we defend well and get the try.
Wakefield kick into touch. We’re in good field position and King over-runs the pass but Atkin passes anyway. If we’d scored again in that set then surely the demons would have set in for Wakey.
Then Williams decides to pass it from 5 metres out to a man stood on his own try line against a set defence. Absolutely inexplicable. They score off the drop out set and their confidence rises.
Even then we had plenty of good field position and blew it time after time. We made more yardage than them. Wakefield never looked like scoring apart from the dropped kick by Williams on the lin.
The aggressive centre defence worked really well. We were clunky generally. We missed Ackers for the period he was off.

Look at the Wakey second try WR, I’m convinced the Eakey player push it forward after Williams lost it the the air
The final pass before the first try was forward

First try wasn’t a guessed pass. Or if it is, it’s very marginal. The passer is in front of the catcher at point of pass and point of catch despite being half stopped in a tackle. As the Rules state - The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground

Somebody, on here, stood at the side of it and considered it well forward
The pass to me relative to the player making it was forward.

Shane Wright covered the most distance in any match last weekend, just over 9k , Brodie Croft a close second just under 9k…and Croft apparently not fully fit
