Just had a chat with someone who spoke to Paul king,I think Paul is getting close to calling it quits he’s remortgaged again and at the moment looks like 2500 for Sundays game, the offers he’s put forward for Sunday have sold 4 tickets!he said the hull kr gate was 5500 but only 3800 paying, without people saying it’s there own fault what should and could the board do?ive told Paul he needs to come out to the public and tell them everything that even after hull and the contract extensions it’s not enough and genuinely it’s not looking good,he said he dsnt want to be the one who takes us into admin, but without the Salford public getting on board it will happen!I know people slagged koucash for Manchester but things have not improved and if the public want a team in Salford it’s up to them!I have told him to go supporters trust and get help the message needs to be out there!

These 2 games are not sensible games to take as examples. Salford are/were competing with 2 major Utd games.I for 1 and many others support both teams. 5500 or 3800 when Utd were at home against Barcelona and both were on TV is actually pretty damn good. This rears its head often but we used to play on a Friday for a reason(to not clash with football).Obviously if we are a TV pick there is nothing we can do.

Yes I agree just trying to make people aware of the seriousness of our position i think the issue is out of population of 275000 we get a core 3000 it isn’t enough of Salford are to keep a super league place,I know the club are saying if we can get to this 5000 average then we’re in a strong position well 2500 against Wakefield will not help that’s for sure!I think people need to understand if it does go belly up then the attendances will be a massive reason we end up like that!

King talks about this on the podcast a little, his commitment to the cause which cannot be understated. But I agree with Devils Advocate, we had Utd playing v KR and this Sunday is Mothers day. I pretty certain we will get more than 2,500 attend. Blease said season tickets were sales were up this Season?
If the club needs to raise funds then why not bring forward the Fans Community Share Scheme. We all want more supporters to attend games, raising the importance of this is only a good thing, agree LH Red on the involvement of the Supporters Trust.

I would not have Mr Kings position at any price, and the stick he takes doing it is nothing short of disgraceful.I wouldn't sleep at night. But I do think to have a game on TV on a Thursday night when United are playing is mind boggling I don't blame the club, but it just shows what Sky think about the game or don't think.

Wakefield game is always going to be fairly low numbers. They are playing awful and unlikely to bring many over, especially after their fans have probably been saturated with the manner of Salford's demolition of Hull this week. It is however, a great opportunity for fair weather fans to make an appearance due to the same reasons. I've said it before, but there's other areas that Salford should be targetting. Places that orbit the M60 either side. It's pretty plain to see that the majority of Salfordians don't really care about the club. A harsh fact. But I know plenty of Salford diehards who originate outside of Salford and I think a lot of those missing numbers could be made up looking into other boroughs. Why not offer season ticket holders of other clubs discounted entrance? It may entice more to visit or will entice those RL fans who don't have a game or don't travel too far or just plain enjoy RL.
I think the freebies from the other week would have been better put to use this week instead as well. None of these ideas is foolproof and they may have been tried. I just feel that the limited resources we have to put to these things could maybe tried elsewhere as it is having little impact in Salford.

Don't the home team of a Sky game get something like 70k or am I imaging that from somewhere? It it's true that's great for us whenever we're at home because that like getting an extra 3k fans. I could be imagining it though 😂 I had it in my head that it was £20k but I could be wrong! (as per usual🙂). It's really not good news about PK though. He deserves better and I'm not sure what to suggest. Even taking into account the Utd/City conundrum we still should have more bodies through the turnstiles. Yes the AJ Bell isn't The Willows location wise but are our "fans" really that fickle that they're unable to drive/get on a bus/walk to see what is arguably the most entertaining Salford team in the last 45-50 years?

20k sounds more like Sky! I bet you're right.
I just don't think there is much appetite for Rugby in our area. Though I do think if we won a few things we coould attract in the region of 7k-8k. I don't think we'd every average 10k-13k ever (unless we had a celebrity takeover like Wrexham!). Saints are around 11k with all their success; Hull FC are around 10.5k with little success.
Rugby needs better ways to engage fans. I have a few ideas I was thinking of putting in a blog post, on the back of IMGs ideas. One things I think that should be a big focus is tag rugby. The NFL promote American football globally and have a big focus on flag football for engagement. Anyone can play and it doesn't require the physical contact aspect of the game. I think rugby would do well to focus in schools on promoting tag rugby. It only needs a ball and tags so has a low investment. Kids would enjoy the running around without the fear (for those not accustomed to the sport) of being tackled. It's super simple to pkay. It can be played on a concrete playground so doesn't need grass. It might get them interested in participation and watching games more.

Carter is walking away from his Wakey position over their attendances or lack of them. King has certainly put his heart and soul into the club. We just all need to attend as many games as possible and encourage others to do so.

TBF BDB I think the club are doing as much as they can at the minute.
I'm sure some of the kids/parents we've had through the turnstiles on freebies recently will come back, we just need to make sure we can lure them in as paying customers with an offer that's affordable.
We really need to know what the shortfall is. Paul King should not be remortgaging his house to keep us afloat. He loves the club as much of any of us but I'd hate to think he went under just to give us another 1/2 years of watching the club.
The stadium announcement is paramount here. If we're given control of the AJ (or SCS if we're allowed to call it that now) then we can generate income. This will hopefully relieve the financial burden PK is carrying and allow us to buy some time while the crowds steadily increase. 10k is never going to happen, even if we win the GF & the CC! We need to be looking at 5k-6k first and taking it from there.
Hudds are surviving on 4k-4.5k crowds because Davey is pumping cash in. We haven't got that luxury.
Ultimately having control over the stadium would give us a fighting chance. It would be good to know how much we're falling short at the minute (although I'm not sure PK will necessarily want us to know what his liabilities are!) but I fully agree that a meeting with the ST and fans would be a starter for 10 to thrash things out. Maybe this can be arranged as soon as the stadium announcement is made public?

I'm talking about rugby in general, not just us. We need to engage people in the sport and tag is the way to do it imo. The RL should be targeting schools all over the country. If we started offering it through amateur clubs clubs we could target people in RU areas. Get them interested in tag and maybe they'll get involved at amateur level or watch the professional games. People also enjoy 7s and 9s too and you don't play those like RU, they are played like RL, so we can generate interest there.
I'd run a tag tournament in pre-season and have it on terrestrial TV. Attract a sponsor for it too as it's a new event. Also award a trophy. In mid-season I'd run a 9s tournament as another new trophy. Again, terrestrial TV and a sponsor for that tournament. Start with SL clubs but maybe we can then expand it.
The game overall needs more participation, greater awareness, and finance. The finance will come from TV and sponsors so extra events would be great. Out last TV deal went from £40m to £26m.

Whilst I feel for Paul King, creating an offer and making people actually aware of the offer are two very different things. You could have the best deal in the world but if no-one knows about it, the offer might as well not exist. I’d love to know what the club is doing to make people outside of the existing fan base aware of this offer. I’d hazard a guess that it’s very little. How many social media paid ads are they running to this offer? How many partners do they have collaborating and promoting this offer? How many amateur clubs have they visited (this week) to promote the offer? How many of the star players social media accounts are they leveraging to promote the offer? This took me 30 seconds to think of, and I doubt they have done any of them. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Sadly as I previously said Utd are in an F A Cup quarter final at home on Sunday at 4-30. It's going to be a major hindrance.
