I was just having a look at SL players who are OOC in 2023 here.
Who you would like to see us target?
This is the current Salford situation:
OOC in 2023 Deon Cross, Danny Addy, Chris Atkin, Amir Borough, Matty Costello, James Greenwood, Ryan Lannon, Ken Sio, King Vuniyayawa, Rhys Williams, Shane Wright, Ben Hellewell
Renewed Andy Ackers, Joe Burgess, Kallum Watkins, Brodie Croft, Jack Ormondroyd
Released Dan Sarginson
I'd like to see us renew Cross, Atkin, Sio, King, and Wright. I think WIlliams would likely be worth another year if we can't identify a younger alternative. Greenwood has potential but his injury record is too poor for me and I've not seen enough from Addy due to injuries or Hellewell. Borough, Costello, and Lannon can go for me.
There aren't a lot of players I'd like to see us target. Evalds was great for us but he isn't needed and a player like Bousquet, who I'd love to see here, is unlikely to leave Catalan, same with Morgue. I think somewhat realistic targets and positions of need could be: Joe Westerman - not so much a need but him, Watkins and Partington would give us a classy back row, but I also think he could make a late career transition to prop to extend his career and would fit our play style
Ligi Sao - as a prop but not SR. Good size and mobility for how we play.
Andre Savelio - as above
Will Dagger - good quality utility backup and we don't have a real FB option after Brierley- possible replacement for Sio if we don't/can't afford a renewal? Lewis Murphy - NRL rumours but if not and we don't renew/can't afford Sio Ellis Longstaff - we have him on loan and I think that was so we could get a good look at him, he seems decent so far but we'll see how things progress Chris Hill - can't see us being able to afford him but he still has a bit in the tank and has leadership skills

Agree with all the ones you want to keep. Not so much on the ones you want to sign.
Westerman is a big no go, recent events would definitely go against our no d£ckhead rule.
Will dagger and longstaff are the ones I would consider as per your reasons. Although we have time to watch longstafff and see how he goes.
The French lads I can't see us getting. I to would like bousquest, but can't see us being in the front runners for him
Hull lads aren't good enough, tbh savelio is a waste of space and looks lazy and full of self importance.
I think hill is just too old and I wouldn't want to carry two 35+ old props in a small squad, as injuries to these guys at that age are usually biggies

French guys would be a no go for sure. I think Hill will sign another year with Hudds and would be unaffordable.
We could do with a prop but there isn't much on offer looking at the list. Maybe is Wakey get relegated Eseh would be a good shout. Sao played well for Samoa which is why I listed him, I'm sure Lafai and Sio could provide a bit of inside knowledge on his work rate etc. Savelio strikes me as someone with untapped potential who Rowley could get the best out of and without costing the earth but I take your point on him.

I realised going through the OOC list for other clubs that: A) some are going to be out of our league wage wise B) I think we will look at the pack again for any tweaks, as the backs are settled C) I am definitely behind on my knowledge of other teams squads and who players are this year.
Wish list would be Matty English-good age, good engine and size. Brad fash-if we need to strengthen back row/loose, I think he's the man for me. Dan Norman-had him before and there is definitely something there. Big, quick and good age, would be a great fit.
Would like to see us aim to bring in players on an upward trajectory in their career and have best years ahead of them We have a lot of 30+ players and these guys have an injury history that is a risk for us to carry.
Also struggling with identifying a young backup hooker out of that lot, any suggestions?

I figured English would likely be a priority signing for Hudds given he's squad hunger of 15 but I'd certainly love him. I didn't pick up on Norman. He's a good shoot. Big man and mobile at that size. He'd definitely be in our price range. I'm a bit worried that King is OOC this year and I think Dupree and Gerrard next year so prop is huge. I hope we extend Dupree long-term as his best years are well ahead of him.
I had the same issue with hooker. Maybe the championship or an academy player? I don't know who is coming through at other clubs really though I also see Wigan fans complaining about Powell and how it's ridiculous the younger guys aren't getting game time. Championship is probably more likely though I would think.

Dan Norman and Sam Eseh are 2 I’d be pushing for.

Mustapha would be worth a look i reckon English definitely. Watts probably got another year in him but suspect he’ll stay at Cas or retires. Lawler is decent too Ben McNamara as back up Linnet and Keinhorst from KR Norman, Bell, Hopoate, Sironen Battye, Jowitt, Lino, Bowden Clarke, Curry, Longstaff Singleton
That would be my long list. But that list is very out of date (from Jan) so not sure how many are still available
