Hardly news I guess but confirmed he's new assistant coach. Did we have an assistant last year, or was it just sheens?

Willie poaching has been confirmed as Watsons assistant coach at tonight's meeting.
Not sure why he left wire, seemed a bit of a strange one swapping him for agar.

Wasn't he at HKR?
This news isn't news yet just checked on RL websites.

Poching is a decent appointment. Played at the highest level and is also assistant to Kidwell for New Zealand if I recall correctly. Bags of experience to help out Watson.

I didn't even realise that there was a meeting to be honest.
I guess that it's a decent signing for us. I wonder why Hull KR have let him go?

Paying Tim Sheens that much won't help.
Hope there isn't to many cooks spoiling the broth.
Hope one of them acts as a defensive coach.

Most clubs have more than one assistant coach, even Leeds, where you'd be forgiven for thinking Brian McDermott knows everything. Even Salford have had two assistant coaches in the past (Andy Hay and Stuart Donlan). Perhaps the significance of the appointment of Willie Poching is that it brings a former forward onto the coaching staff.
And it's Willie Poching, not Willie Poaching. Willie Poaching is something you get on the Masterchef Cannibalism Special.

Solid appointment. Has experience of coaching at Super League and international level and will be an asset.
Cant say I was overwhelmed by his initial comments of "I have a desire to be a head coach one day". That's great, I am sure you do but when you're being unveiled to your new club cant you keep that to yourself and perhaps talk about how excited and grateful you are for the opportunity to work as an assistant at our club.

You could say if he as been coaching ten years. He should be an head coach by now.that's if he is any good.

Might be just the problem everyone else has with head coach positions far too few for far too many people. And perhaps he's just not applied for any yet.

Russ sometimes you don't get the choice and they also say cream rises to the top but what do I know.
