Can't wait for the big boys to start playing each other. Although I have enjoyed some of the other countries matches and impressed with how competitive some have been

94-4 to England. Close match Man of the match Marc Sneyd 13 conversations 1 Try Andy Ackers bagged two tries. Just a small point, but I don't remember even Alex Murphy having that many chats during a game. Except for chats with the refs. 😉

I saw Peacock's summing up of Mark Sneyd which was based on the games he's played in but then also used the games he hasn't and teams he hasn't played against to find him wanting.
This was in marked difference to his approach to Williams in the same game.
Interesting that!
Carcassonne won well though. Wheelchair starts as well!

I admit your enthusiasm and the wonderful PDRL matches made me tune in to NZ v Ireland and what an error on my part. Why an error? What we’re you expecting? Although clearly not the closest or most skilful of games it was interesting to watch. Or maybe the wife is right and I’ll literally watch paint dry if I was told it was sport?! There were moments even in the blow out games of interest for me, and just watching some of these stars in our country is amazing. Some good close games left this week hopefully, then the knock outs should be excellent particularly on our side of the draw

Sneyd has really surprised me this season, I was far from enthused when we signed him thought he was pretty dull at hull, just a kicking machine. But he’s been far from that, really good with ball in hand, fantastic with his boot top, just a brilliant signing and rightfully including in the England squad. Peacocks justification on that was garbage, which is a shame I don’t think Sneyd got the praise he deserves from them. That said, I think Williams and welsby do just shade it in the halves, unless Tomkins is injured and move welsby back there. Sneyd could be an option from the bench given Welsbys ability to play literally anywhere! Id love to see Ackers continue there too, he’s a more complete player than Micky Mac for mine, but he is a wane favourite

Although one sided matches are not the stuff dreams are made of, especially in RL that was not why I was disappointed. I avoided and will avoid saying why though.
The Australians have been saying tier one sides shouldn't play lower sides in their usual negative way. It's just yet another illustration of why having them as the world's top international side is the albatross around RL's neck.

Interesting one with Sneyd. I wouldn’t have gone with Welsby and Williams as a partnership but I thought they were excellent against Samoa and are probably both more complete players than Sneyd. Bit like playing Hastings and Croft together. Their only failing really is the long kicking game which could be a problem against the big 3. I don’t think Sneyd’s defence is good enough for international RL. He struggles at times in SL. If I had to choose between kicking game and defence I’d sacrifice a bit of a kicking game first. But no doubt Sneyd would give his all and do a great job.
Interesting that Wane has played Sneyd in two games rather than build the understanding between Williams and Welsby. Not sure if that is a sign that Sneyd and Williams is his first choice or is just because of lack of options in the centre and full back yesterday. Nice problem to have for England with three good halves to choose from.
I think Mickey McIllorum is underrated. His defence is great and he does little things in defence and attack that often go unnoticed. His running game isn’t great and that tends to be all that modern RL fans see in a hooker these days. I hope Wane has Ackers on the bench from here on in to bring his running threat against tiring defended. Watching Tonga against PNG I thought they looked a bit slow around the ruck. But Tonga were terrifying everywhere today so who knows 😂

I see Escare dropped by France today. Sadly I can see why. He’s fine some good stuff but unfortunately just not strong enough. Been rag dolled a few times and bundled into touch too easily

The thing is, if Sneyd is not good enough to play against quality sides he shouldn't be there wasting his time and the team's.
I think Williams form has won over a few pundits which is fair enough but that was mostly against the same opposition as Sneyd.
Even the win in the first match seems to have depended on the opposition being out of sorts.
There's little doubt that the Panthers lessons of the past two years have been learnt and put into practice by Oz, NZ and Tonga. You are very unlikely to defeat this without a kicking strategy in your armoury.
What odds are the bookies giving for an all NRL final?
