There was a bit of a discussion on Twitter about music for game day and someone came up with an inspired idea. It's ok just purely trying to incorporate the Devil or Salford theme but that doesn't work, what you need is raucous, up beat anthemic music.
The main idea was for the team to run out to Thunderstruck by ACDC and it's brilliant, at the start there is a hook that would be so easy to loop where people chant Thunder in time with the music, replace with Salford and you have a whole load of deafening noise.
While Dirty Old Town is about Salford and we are rightly proud of it, it's not exactly music that gets you off your seat. For me you need a mix of high quality rock and dance music, get rid of the guy with the mic and just put on good music and allow the fans to enjoy themselves. At one game last year Insomnia by Faithless came on and a group of about 10 women in front of us started gooning around and it was brilliant, sadly that doesn't happen with DOT. For me that is what you play at the end when the team have won as a celebration of Salford.
So with that in mind suggestions for music.
Insomnia, Faithless.
Oasis, Morning Glory.
Foo Fighters, Breakout.
Underworld, Born Slippy.
The Killers, Mr Brightside.
Cafe Del Mar, Energy 52.
Metallica, Whiskey In The Jar.
You're not going to please everyone but there's my ideas.
