On the other hand, I rate Johnson even though some questioned his size. He's a good 'un.

Just one of them would be like having an NRL forward i think the best way to play Frank Foster was from the subs bench Frank Foster could start a fight in phone box,with only him in it.Been some wonderful forwards from Cumberland Bonitared you mentioned Billy Kirkbride after we had Harold Henney if you remember became Lanlord of the Waverly on Eccles New Road.But if I am pushed to name best I have seen from up there it would have be Dick Huddart Saints and Gt Britain

Oddly,I lived behind the Waverley,Dixon,and think I played against Henny when he was at Egremont. The Height will correct me if I’m wrong. All of them tremendous forwards. My favourite memory of Kirkbride,we played Saints away. They had Eric Prescott and he was being a nuisance. Kirkbride flattened him,by foul means,on the half way line.

Do you remember the Don supper bar,a bit further down Eccles New Rd.In the early sixties Sunday night for meat and potato pie they couldn't sell fish and chips on Sunday at the time,happy days.
