Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce the capture of Wigan Warriors forward Lee Mossop.
Mossop comes to the Red Devils with a rich Rugby League pedigree having represented England, and spent time playing in the NRL for the Parramatta Eels.
Head coach Ian Watson is excited with the acquisition of Mossop, and is hoping he can have a big impact in 2017;
“Lee is great addition to our squad, he adds depth to our pack and brings with him plenty of experience at the highest level. With the squad we already have in place I think Lee can have a big impact on our season as we look to build on last year.”
Mossop is the fourth addition to Watson’s squad for 2017, with Daniel Murray, Kris Brining and Lama Tasi also joining the club for the new season.
Salford Red Devils C.E.O Ian Blease is happy to be able to welcome Mossop to the AJ Bell Stadium, and is enthused by the way the squad is shaping up for 2017;
“The squad is virtually now complete with an emphasis on experience which Lee brings to this club, the club will also mix the experience with youth with the likes of Josh Wood, Jake Bibby and Ryan Lannon challenging the senior members of the squad for next years shirts.”

This could be a very good signing, and I really hope it turns out that way!
But “The squad is virtually now complete....."
Am I missing something or are a bit short on the 4-5 signings here?

A decent addition to the pack. I'm hoping that he'll be very much in the Scott Taylor/Koppy mold in that they can revitalise their career by getting on with us.

From that statement I personally think there won't be any further signings

7 out - 4 in so far OUT Door Phil Joseph - Utility Forward - Bratfud Josh Griffin - Wing/ Centre - Hull FC Feleti Mateo - Released Luke Burgess - Prop - Catalan Lee Somebody or Other - Hooker - Saints Sean Kenny - not Retained Caton-Brown - Winger - Wakey
IN Door 1. Daniel Murray - Prop - Warrington 2. lama Tasi - Prop - Saints 3. Kriss Brinning - Acting Half - York City 4. Lee Mossop - Prop - Wiggaaannnn
we have 0 ' Non Fed ' spots available ? Carney/ S'au/ Liu /Tasi /Masila/ Hauraki/ Vidot
A ' experienced ' Fed - Trained Back seems the obvious gap ?
A couple of rumour quotes stand out :-
Zak ? Another Lui to rumour , 1st Wigan -then Leeds , now Leigh ?

Bring on John Bateman 11.02.2017.
You just known that there's a kick off brewing already and I for one can't wait.
I think this will be an inspired signing, kopczak with Mossop as his interchange keeps a hard working prop on the field who can do longer minutes if any injuries dictate.

If we follow our ' recent ' Tradition of hosting Wigan in a pre season friendly , you might not have to wait that long . You can Add Murdoch Masila - & Hauraki to the ' owed one ' re recent altercations

A Lee Mossop of four years ago would be amazing but I think we have to manage our expectations here a bit. His injury record in the last few years is a cause for concern, he wasn't on a big wage at Wigan and wasn't given game time towards the end - so his form was patchy. I hope it's an inspired signing, time will tell.

He should be better than Joseph and Burgess and if not he should be at least as good as. So it's an improvement but on his form of the last few years he will be a steady eddie rather than a star player. I hope he can rediscover his form of a few years ago. Then he will prove an inspired signing
