Yes ... there's been a large amount of speculation on the TotalRL forum (up to Sept 28th).
It again has the feeling of the big boys trying to keep their finances by ousting anyone who wants a share of it. Fancy dressing up into SL:1 and SL2 means nothing more than reducing the teams so the share from Sky to such as Saints remains the same.
I accept that this is a Salford forum but I think we need to consider what has happened to Oldham, Swinton and Rochdale. Nobody on here should consider Salford is favoured.

Sky reduction in money means the clubs with the biggest mouth pieces get to dictate how the league is structured to ensure they continue to receive the same cut as always. It's going to be a crucial year for us and I, like you, think that we could easily go the way of Oldham, Swinton, and Rochdale.

Let’s face it we have a stupid system, except for the more affluent teams. A few years ago we and KR were fighting relegation, last year KR were, and both teams have a few good years and the odd bad year. Leeds a couple of years ago bought Rob Lui off us to keep them up So it’s yo yo time which stunts the development of teams
So it’s really your luck of the draw as to when matches occur, injuries etc.
We are not in the best position at the moment, so the likelihood we’d be in a bottom 3. Toulouse coming up…..why not generate a good French league now with mainly French players. Catalan exist because they have a wealthy backer and are allowed to import lots of Antipodean and English players…how many French players will be in the Catalan side on Sat? And Featherstone are within spitting distance of Cas and Wakey; one team really should exist between the 3 of them
So let’s decide to have 12 English based teams ( maybe some amalgamations) via a franchise system and keep them in place with support and maybe a draft system for 5 years. Maybe be us and Leigh join ( or us and Hudds with Rowley as coach and Watto assisted). But that would generate bigger crowds, more competitiveness and better competition. But reducing it to 10 inc possibly 2 French teams, consisting mainly of non French players, to me is total stupidity. (Assume 10 teams would play each other 3 league games a season😩)
Just a few thoughts

Our adherence to promotion and relegation is fine if the Championship was full time. As it is, there's generally too big a gulf in class between full time and part time. Not to mention the severe lack of funds the lower leagues get because its syphoned-off by the SL. With an ever increasing money gap between SL and everyone else we're just making the problem bigger the longer it goes on. Sky money keeps the SL alive but they are reducing it with each new contract. Sky itself is also a main reason why the sport wont grow. It monopolizes the northern hemisphere sport but doesn't invest anything beyond the initial contract. A handful of games shown every week, no magazines show, no dedicated channel, no new faces, not even new titles for the last decade. We can't show the sport off its locked behind a Sky subscription and generally forgotten about thereafter.
We're beholden to Sky and its money, so any restructure will be sculpted by the CEO's of the few top clubs to favour their domination over a slowly asphyxiating league. Restructuring, for me, will be a waste of time until we can break the yoke of Sky and actually show everyday people the great game we have.

Sky will do what’s right for them and no other broadcaster wants to compete with the deal we have. Its now full time in Superleague which is mainly due to the Sky contract but they now have us by the balls, and are squeezing. BBC don’t pay very much for the Challenge Cup,because we want the exposure that it gives us. I don’t have the answer but I think the game would be stuffed without the Sky money.

The game is stuffed without the Sky money. But Sky are also slowly killing the game, albeit indirectly. A catch-22 for sure.

Agree with a lot of the above. I also think those killing it are the ‘big self centred 4’ ; Wigan Saints Warrington and Leeds, who just develop the game in such a way that money comes to them, hence trophies
All those involved from grass roots to SL and throughout Europe, NZ Oz and the rest of those playing need to develop the big picture to benefit all. A Strategic Plan for the benefit of the game
Impossible I hear; but Union has done it…even Portugal, Austria Hing Kong etc have sevens teams. Look where Union was 30 years ago and see where it is now….Sale has bought the ground developed and built for us.
But of course…..we’re in th3 blame game…and the ME game

The main problems I see that contribute to our under-performing game, in no particular order:
1. Locked into a catch-22 with Sky and its money. 2. The people that control everything have a vested interest in the status quo. 3. Certain CEO's wield too much influence. 4. Academy structure benefits those same top clubs creating a feedback loop that leads to an unbalanced distribution of talent. 5. Not all salary caps are equal. (See 2, 3, 4) 6. Massive discrepancies in finances between league tiers. 7. Full time SL, Part time for nearly everyone else. 8. Lack of pathways between grass roots and pro clubs. 9. Grass roots management constantly beefing with its pro counterparts. 10. Probably a load of other things I can't think of right now...

The Challenge Cup is on the protected list of events hence why BBC have it.
I believe too that Sky are killing the game. They use it to fill gaps in their schedule. Last Friday it was Championship football that was on their Main Event channel rather than the Play Off semi final.
Their investment has allowed the game to go full time but the fact they have it means the game exists on the margins. BBC wouldn’t pay anywhere near as much but the exposure would be far greater. On recent figures, BBC coverage has between 3 and five times more viewers than Sky. All the talk of expansion that goes on is pointless. If people in the heartlands aren’t watching then how are people elsewhere going to get into the game.
There has to be terrestrial TV coverage. Another satellite channel would be pointless. I don’t see what benefits the Championship will get from their Premier Sports deal.
In terms of Super League structure I can’t see how ten teams will work. It would arguably mean at least nine loop fixtures which fan surveys have highlighted are an issue with them. I don’t think the Play Offs work either. It renders much of the season meaningless as the top sides can go through the motions and know they can afford to lose a few and still be “Champions”.
The restructuring will for ever go on until real change is made and the fans are listened too.

The fans…we’re just there to provide the funds, little information, no discussion,,,,never mind listening to them.
We pay for our season tickets, no discussion re refunds for matches missed,,,or even thanks. Taking 5he fans funds for granted. Because that’s our role. There are too many blinkered egotistical know-it-all men at the top in the sport generally and in the clubs specifically. At least with people like Koukash around he spoke to the fans listened and tried,,,in his way, not always agreeably but he did consult. Made many mistakes, upset people but engaged with the fans.

FFS Koukash again. Engaging with fans, drunken rants on Twitter and then banning people from any discussion. Made many mistakes, where do you want me to start.
