Wigan

I enjoyed the match and our effort was excellent.   Wigan with a star studded side inc 2 Marquee players who made the difference (Jacko & Bateman) were also fortunate to have 3 Referees on their side in Grant, Childs & Kendrew.  Salford turned out with 17 but really only 16 as Pauli Pauli was proper Poorly and could hardly stand up after his 8 minute stint.

Nice to see Sarge in the centre and Burgess had a good time running like a thoroughbred throughout.  Kevin Brown was very good in that he took a big knock in the first half but continued to show glimpses of his ability.  When you consider us being without Escare. Lannon, Watkins, Seb, Inu, Patten, Sio etc there was very little between the 2 sides and losing 2 tries to 1 at the Pie Dome is a good result in my book.

I'm not too despondent either about the result. Bit of a shame we didn't have enough field position to allow us to test their goal-libe defence in the 2nd half and we never quite looked like we had enough in attack to hurt them. Some of the tries conceded were so frustrating with multiple missed tackles/offloads not being stopped.

On the plus side we've had far bigger hammerings at the Pie Dome with much stronger Salford teams on the pitch. This Wigan side are very poor by their standards.

Discipline still needs sorting but a couple of those decisions last night were laughable, especially when he penalised us when Marshall(?) dropped that bomb right in front of our fans. Thought Addy had a bit of a 'mare but I guess he must've been out a couple of.months at least from memory.
