It's not just the Original Red Devils who are having to Postpone games due to Covid-19,The Cheshire Reds have had to cancel their Friendly game at Preston North End over the Weekend due to positive Tests at OT, They had a Friendly at Brentford last night To be honest you'd wont to avoid going to London unless it's necessary due to the Larger population Especially around Brentford The apartment blocks that have been built since London Broncos started playing down the road at Ealing, £450'00 For a one bedded apartment overlooking Brentfords new stadium.

Maybe now is the time with the huge reduction in Sky revenue next year for rugby league to go back to semi professional status. Just got to be realistic and accept that players will have to find full-time employment elsewhere and supplement their main job with winning or losing pay. No I can't agree Manny that would lead to a downward spiral and there's plenty to be positive about.

Old Trafford is in the County Borough of Cheshire !! M16 post code. Better re name LCCC Cheshire CCC as well then. Aj Bell stadium M30 postcode But not in the City of Manchester. Don't worry about it. A secret Document has revealed that the Football euro Superleague will be back within 5 years and Utd will be relocated to Iceland.

There’s one 5 mins from my home with loads of pubs near it so that will make me happy.

The drop in Sky TV money is estimated to be in the region of 20-30 million over the next two years. I just can't see how clubs can fill that financial void on the back of two seasons being hit extremely hard with matchday losses.

You are right Manny and not only our game but lower league football, cricket etc - it will take years to rejuvenate.
Part time certainly beckons but then you will have the Big 6 clubs continuing on a Full Time basis plus maybe Huddersfield & Leigh thanks to Ken Davy & Mr Decking.
Players have to take cuts and fewer Overseas Stars will end up here.
Re Relegation. Can`t happen surely. Top two should be promoted and a levy brought in - maybe 10% - 15% of gate income to be added to the `pot` to be shared equally.

What I said was going part time will not be the answer and will signal to those sponsors and companies involved that we're in decline.
The financial problems are more than just what's available and the debt, they're about people feeling less inclined to turn up, they're about covid particularly affecting RL communities and decreasing what was already an aging fan base.

It's extremely difficult and I don't envy the task of SL club officials trying to balance the books. I agree with Early Bath that perhaps 6-8 clubs would still be either financially viable (Due to traditionally larger fan bases) and/or supported heavily by benefactors. The difficulty I see with this is that 6-8 teams isn't really enough to form a league and fans/TV audiences would get bored of the same repetitive fixtures over and over.
Alternatively you wouldn't have a fair competition if some clubs were full time and others were part time. I take your point Russ about how sponsors could react by thinking that a non professional sport has less advertising appeal but can some teams now realistically afford to pay 30 full-time players plus a number of coaches and backroom staff? The last thing RL needs now is a number of clubs going bust simply trying to just keep up with the Jones's.
A possible idea would be to ask all SL players/coaches earning over say 35K a season to take an x % wage cut to keep SL alive whilst it recovers from the effects of Covid and the new reduced broadcasting deal.

The first response happened the moment the Sky money was reduced the championship and lower leagues will have a lot less.
The real problem is a lack of unity and unified reaction to all this. SL has always suffered from being a flag that all it constituent parts play under but where nothing in marketing terms or publicity areas works towards the one goal of making everyone more prosperous. When compared with sports like NFL, darts or WWE/F where one is more theatre than sport, one demands so little and the other can be tedious beyond belief their selling and propaganda are phenomenal.

The Rimmer and Davey are looking at this with clubs; initial statement issued.
Hope it’s not yet another dogs breakfast, although Ken Davey does appear to have RL unity high on his agenda. Good man. Ralph Rimmer…umm

Daveys heart is clearly in the right place as he’s a nett contributor, whereas the Executive are,by definition, salaried employees. Today’s joint statement was simply a waste of ink
