I was expecting a much better performance last night considering the team we fielded looked stronger than it has been for weeks. Discipline has been a major issue since Richard Marshall took the reigns and shows a weakness in his ability to resolve the problem. If I was him I would think it reflects badly on myself and my management style. Yes it’s the players who do it but they weren’t doing it last year with Watto at the helm.

Not excusing Tui, but after a wonderful team tackle, tackling the Leeds player into touch and being penalised for it, just like in the Cup Final, I can understand his frustration.

So your saying the discipline was better under Watson ? It’s been appalling for a number of years independent of which coach has been in charge.

I thought we were nowhere near the pace of the game in the first half but much more competitive in the second, even though the game was gone. I have always thought Ben Thaler was one of our best referees but last night was not one of his best games. We were applauding the gang tackle that pushed Leeds into touch only for Mr Thaler to decide the tackle was complete even though the tackled player was always moving. We were also unfortunate when the apparent try at our end was disallowed for an offside that no one else had spotted.
However, the truth is that Leeds were better than us even though the score flattered them. Hingano looked promising after he came on at half time and he could well give us some of the creativity we have lacked.
We do need a better, more disciplined eighty minute performance next Thursday against Hull KR if we are to get anything out of the game.

Yes I think it was and our game management was much better. The team this year aren’t as savvy and I believe we are trying to over compensate. Spine of the team is weaker and our HB’s in particular have been a major disappointment.

"We do need a better, more disciplined eighty minute performance next Thursday against Hull KR if we are to get anything out of the game." Exactly. My opinion, not changed in thinking about the game since Friday, was we gave Leeds too much respect in attack and this meant players were congested when it came to defend so they could set up phased attacks. The second half seemed more "sod it" so we threw the ball around bringing Escare and the wings into play, and causing them to be less organised in their defence. In fact the second half was "Salford", the first half "modified Noble".

Right.... well it's been 3 days and not a mention on here so I'll ask the question....
Does anyone know what actually happened between the stweard and the Salford fan which caused the kick off? For those that weren't at the game a young steward had to be forcibly restrained and dragged away from the terraces by colleagues while a Salford fan in an NFL style top was shouting at him/attempting to get to him. The same steward had previously (quite rightly) told a couple of our fans to stop smoking on the terrace but this seemed a separate incident and a different Salford fan involved (from what I could make out).
Anyone care to share? (feel free to DM me if it's not something you feel comfortable sharing on an open forum😁👍).
