I'd like to start by saying my knowledge of the game isn't as good as some folk on here so please put me straight if I'm wrong.
Simple question. How can a game be ran by a group of people who have vested interests in clubs that participate in that competition? No other sport I know has a set up like this.
Am I correct in thinking the RFL panel is made up of 2 Leeds board members amongst 8 others? How many people represent the RFL and which clubs are they from?
I'm genuinely staggered that there is zero transparency (again if there is I'm listening), with regards to the disaplinary process, who votes on these decisions and do we get to know who voted what?
The straw that broke the camels back is out friend luke gale getting nothing this week but Joe burgess got 1 match ban has my blood boiling. Surely it has to be a matter of time when the RFL is ran by an independent Committee that quite honestly don't make tainted decisions?
Alot of people are losing interest in super league - rapidly To me and alot of Salford fans I speak to, it feels like we're running uphill in roller skates. How can this shoddy set up keep running a fantastic game so poorly, christ they made us change our stadium then let others keep theirs. Awful.
I do feel there is an agenda against Salford not by the referees I might add but by the people who run this competition who should be doing it fairly.
This game was set up and run by some nothern lads in a pub and it feels like it still is years on.

A fish rots from the head down. I have a very low opinion of the current CEO,which may be unjustified but that rôle dictates the look and feel of the organisation. Compare and contrast with David Oxley, for example. RR looks like a bag of rags. Elstone didn’t work out but at least he looked and sounded a decent advert for the game. Having said that,I think their compliance will be text book in terms of the make up of committees etc. They focus on that but, with any organisation, there’s always someone who has the boss’s ear and I suspect that’s where Leeds,Wigan and even Bratford score higher marks than us. Red Hall,or whatever their new nickname will be,is the perfect set up for lower league clubs with part time players. Tried the Elstone experiment,it didn’t make the anticipated impact so rip it up and go back to the failed unambitious set up

Vested interests have always been in this game and, in my opinion, often destroy progress to protect or amplify such vested interests. I point to the "crown jewel of youth rugby league" (not my quote) "Schools Rugby League" now and back in the nineties. (shut up HBR) However you cannot separate club finances from the overall finances. It grew from those clubs and so organically we will always have club interests to the fore. The clubs respond to and are supported by the communities linked to them. (This is a reason why parachuted clubs such as the often suggested "Manchester" rarely work.) It would be difficult to unravel the clubs historic input to the RL with their finances and reduce the power of the financial bosses of the clubs who want to protect their clubs. Possible but potentially dangerous.

It's a consequence of its heritage and how it was born as a sport. Its close links with the politics of the early part of the last century cemented its 'socialist' like structure where equality and fairness was the byword of its birth. Going hand in hand with the movements of its era. A sport for working people created by working people. I over simplify of course, but that structure hasn't changed massively over the years since and while on paper it's a pure and progressive structure, in reality it fails when vested interests abuse that position...
...and here we are.
It is killing the sport in Europe, but I see very little possibility for change when you have certain 'characters' at all levels of the game. From grassroots amateur up to the very top, drunk on power trips and engaged in open cronyism to their own interests. At this point it's endemic in the sport, and like cancer it's so far rooted into the fabric that it's almost impossible to get rid of it.
As a side note...
There is one way that the whole thing can be wiped clean with the possibility of things actually progressing. But equally, as a Salford fan, I'd be careful for what we wish for. The only way, in my opinion, that it will change is if the NRL buy it out and take control. They could sort it out, but it would be brutal. They'd want a reduction in teams and probably mergers just like they did in Australia. Nobody was safe and very popular clubs were ingested into others. Wakey and Cas would probably be one. Even the Hull sides might not be safe if it was the case, and I could see Salford being cast aside.

Greater Manchester Reds that suspiciously play in cherry and white
