Maurice they're getting better each match, patience Hick v poor Needed Lussick today to sort Matutia out
Brown brilliant, he needs to give Tui lessons in passing a ball. Tui got to learn to knit into the team, like a headless chicken tonight
But progress

Maurice they're getting better each match, patience Hick v poor Needed Lussick today to sort Matutia out Hicks has been poor yes but Johnson and Addy are not worth a spot in place of Pauli and Inu - they are our go forward and must start. Greenwood and Roberts put in a shift as did Seb. In truth I think Marshall is struggling out of his depth, one man rugby for the most part and lets be honest Cas were cold tonight. Yes we got beat by less than 20 but equally they look disjointed, cannot say I am impressed.

I'm writing this before the end of the game. Disclaimer.
I've watched this same Salford team for over thirty years. The same team that makes stupid errors, gives away field position like they are a charity, and look like thirteen individuals instead of a team.
Literally, it's only the names that have changed. The team has been doing this shite for over thirty years, and I'm getting tired of watching it frankly. I'm not one for bagging players but the likes of Mossop and Johnson should be water carriers. I've not seen such disinterest in players since the last Salford side was cobbled together. With the exception of a year and a bit where Hastings dragged us around the park and made us feel like a real RL team, it's been the same forever. I'm sure RM doesn't coach them to be utter dog turd, but it's in our DNA isn't it? We can't shake off our deformed and losing DNA. We're stuck with it it seems.
It's getting to the point where I can cut and paste the response to games...
Too flat in attack. Too lazy in defence. Every time we got field position we ****ted someone in the face. Whenever we got stuck in our own third we either did five mediocre drives and a kick or knocked on. Whenever we got good field position we didn't really know what to do with it. The same sweating pile of shite as ever. Feel free to copy and paste for next week.
Not good enough again in any area. But that's Salford unfortunately...

That's an accurate assessment Carnster but to be crap after four months plus together is not acceptable. The responsibility is with Marshall. Tonight is not good enough based on the standard the fans expect.

Maurice - give it a rest about Marshall. Unless you have a quarter of a million tucked away to pay him off then kindly leave it be. As others have said - tonight was an improvement and we have a squeak next week if we see Inu, Pauli, Sarge & Taylor back.
Carnstar - totally understand where you are coming from and fear the type of turgid RL there will be on display this season.

I am sorry it must be me,I thought we wouldn't win anything, but watching Cas tonight neither will they.Yes our performance was better but our indiscaplin is killing us,I couldn't even blame Hick we made it easy for him.It seems I am seeing things differently than most, and yes some are saying we are getting better I appreciate that. But I have seen up to now,I will be happy with bottom four. I hope I am wrong but that's what I think.

KR and Hudds after the cup game, don't win them then we should be worried where next win will come from, hopefully get players back from injury and they may give us the spark we need

Can’t fault the effort again we just need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. Errors, poor discipline and a few questionable refereeing decisions cost us. It’s very difficult when your have no momentum and are having to play catch-up. Inevitably you force things to get back into the game and it makes the situation worse. I’m confident though we have enough quality in the squad to perform much better going forward. On a posttive Castleford have won 4 from 5 and didn’t look much better than us despite all our errors, the penalty count and the fact they have a team with much fewer new faces.

FWIW Marshall doesn’t tell them to knock on, miss tackles or give away stupid penalties. This is what cost us.
Much improved tonight and thought Greenwood and Roberts were tremendous in the back row. Kev Brown also class.

Agree its like watching a rudderless ship in a strong ocean current, trust me after 35 years as a fan (and two amazing ones under Watto) no one wants to see improvement more than me. Just do not see any leadership or direction when the coach speaks or from the players at the minute. I hope we see change next week because the potential on paper is there for all to see.

I feel for Richard Marshall because he’s taken over a club that has again had it’s squad decimated by poachers. The job would have been hard enough after Watson but with all the new faces it just makes the task even harder. Just got to show some understanding and patience I think because it’s like starting again despite still having some quality players.

I thought Hicks had a fairish game but why was Atkin penalised when clearly the strip was one on one?

They just need to focus and work on the ‘processes’ a favourite Watto term. The team is just lacking continuity, structure, discipline and cohesion at the moment.
