There is no viable alternative in Salford and I maintain it's not actually that bad and will only improve over the years when the infrastructure and facilities around it progress.
I do worry that the Docs love in with the decking salesman he might try to get us into Leighs ground, rather to go City's small stadium than there.

I do not think that will happen that is going to Leigh. He would be going on is own.But i will take issue with you when you say it is not bad.I don't know where you live I spoke with two chaps who came on public transport from Little Hulton who get home near midnight.I think you are in a very big minority who think it is OK. The ground it self I will give you is a vast improvement in facility. But at this time it holds us back.It might be better in the future but I am afraid we live in present in terms of infrastructure it is a white elephant like the Doc said last we are lumbered with it.And that is one thing this man cannot be blamed for. That belongs to Mr Salford.

I live in Ellesmere Park so either walk or get one of the buses that run through Eccles, I used to live in the middle of Worsley and again either walk through Winton or get a taxi down the motorway. Is it ideal no, is it as bad as some would have you believe no and as I say pretty sure in the next few years the transport links will improve.
Your friends would be better off getting the 68 and getting of in Monton, grabbing a pint down there and getting a cab with one of the many Salford fans you see down there on match days.
Might be an idea for a thread on here, one where people can meet up with other members to allow them to get a taxi/minibus sorted rather than pubic transport.

The problem you have with the temporary stadium is you'd need permission from Salford council, can't see them allowing Salford access to something that would facilitate us leaving Barton. You see people say share with Swinton when/if they get their new ground at Agecroft, I can tell you if people think getting to Barton is a pain try getting down Agecroft as the 484 service is about as reliable as a SL referee.

Perhaps there needs to be better coordination between the club, smc, g4s and local bus companies with regard to parking. I'm sure improvements can be made here to at least improve the general perception that the ground is difficult to access/leave, which may in turn help bring back both home and away fans put off from attending

I used the car park a few times last season, if you had a little patience you could be off it within 30 mins. When we had games on Sunday I would take an early bus to have a few beers and something to eat at the Barley Farm, the buses advertised for every 10 mins, this didn't happen it ended up one every 50mins, day out wrecked on more than one occasion. This is one of the reasons more people are not going. When you do get there the beer is crap and overpriced, I know I'm old fashioned but I do like to get a feel of comradery when I'm sitting down with mates having a few beers chewing over the fat and having a laugh, I still don't get a warm feeling about the place, except for the smell coming over from the ship canal. I begin getting worried if the bus will turn up going back and if my bladder will hold out. Thinking about it now I think ill just use the car to get home and have a few drinks from the fridge knowing the toilet isn't far away. Is it a sign of age and me becoming a moaning old git or are my points valid.

Agreed the transport back is the main issue, found a solution when the Barley Farm opened in pre booking a taxi for 45 minutes after the game ends and having a shandy or two in their waiting.
The club/council/SMC should be negotiating with First Bus to rectify this, said it many times have a couple of double deckers waiting near the ground, charge everyone £2 and shuttle them to Eccles so people can get a train, tram or other bus service home. I know I always bang the same drum but it just strikes me as being an easy solution to make everything easier.
Did mention this on Twitter to the Doc once but being the petulant child he is he blocked me.

I can't see why the ground seems to be hated so much. It's draughty, I'll concede that much but we had to leave the Willows, there's no way they would have let us stay and play super league for much longer. Yes other clubs have poor grounds but they all seem to have proper toilets for a start and a bar, not a shed with no light or fridge selling cans. As for the public transport issue I can't really comment as I don't use it to get to the match. What I will say though is the AJ Bell is right next to the M60 so I'm not having all this it's too hard to get to. The fact is I see the same faces at the AJ as I used to see at the Willows. If people want to go and support their team, they'll find a way.
We won't be moving again and I wouldn't back any plan to go to Leigh or Man City's place. How is the other side of Manchester or the arse end of Wigan better to get to/from

I agree with rednotdead, the ground in terms of facilities is so much better than the willows, its the location and the sterile feeling of the place, if I wasn't such a big Salford fanatic I probably would not be in such a hurry to go to a match. I don't no what the answer is, but we have to find a way of making it the place to go to for the person/family that wants a bit of evening/afternoon entertainment, after all its the sport entertainment industry we are in. Perhaps when the area is completely developed we might see a difference, but can the club wait that long?

But we do still have fans using public transport and it's a night mare.

In my opinion the ground is more difficult to get to and from, especially on a Friday night. I can imagine if you have to get home from work through the nightmare of the M60, get your kids fed and watered, get to the ground by 8 and you are not going to get home until gone 10pm it would be enough to make people think they cannot be bothered with the hassle. Hopefully the move to daytime games might help with this.
In terms of the actual setup at the ground its just daft. i understand the thought process of closing the carparks for 15 minutes but if they actually used them properly it would be a lot better.
As you drive in on the right there is a car park that in the first season at the AJB fans were able to park in and it was brilliant. Now its just staff parking there which makes no sense. Let fans park there and after the game stick a load of cones down the middle of entrance road. Tell walking fans to stick to the right of those cones (and if they don't its their ass if they get run over) which will allow the cars in that right car park to get moving and clear the area before releasing the other car parks after the required 15 "safety" minutes.
